I need some help with my level. It will be called "City of Qualopec", but I have run out of ideas for traps and atmosphere. So far, it starts with a hall and double doors, with a switch for them in a dark corner (easy starters ) and then a crumbling bridge across a casm, with a central pillar dividing the bridge in two. There is a special secret to get around this trap. I want to have a least some of the level with Lara going across several bridges, higher and higher, that divide around this main central pillar. But what sort of traps should i have in-between? I need really clevar ones, because the WAD that i have does not have a rolling boulder or spikes, only crumbling floor, flames, ropes, wolves and bats. The level, as you might have guessed, TR 1 veterans, is in Peru.
I would appreciate any suggestions.

BTW, I already have a cool flame puzzle for the next level

My computer does not support TRWest, or any of the TR Tools. I am on a MAC ...

But if you are willing to add spikes and boulders to this WAD and then send it to me, I would be very happy .

In the meantime, does anyone have trap or atmospheric effects ideas? I want this to be a really cool opening level. The next level will have raptors!

Here's an idea...

A big skull with a river coming out of it's mouth and lara has to get in the skull (a sink is stopping her though) So she has to stop the sink before entering.

i was gonna use this idea for my level but i couldn't get it to work out corectly.

That sounds like the type of level I'd like! I'm wondering though, where did you get the WAD with the crumbling bridges, wolves and bats? I'd love to have that.

How about a spike pit that must be backtracked across many times that is covered in crumble-tiles, so the player must conserve tiles to be able to make it back and forth many times - or prehaps a puzzle like in 'Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade' Where you spell a name by jumping on the tiles that don't collapse based on the letters on them - or perhaps a deep shaft with crumble-tiles stacked up on many levels, leading down to spikes. Then there is a tunnel coming off the shaft about half way down so the player must see the alternate passage and jump into it or they will crumble through a few more floors and hit the spikes, or a simple crumble floor into a wolf pack, or - wait, i just noticed that you don't have spikes... just use flames and death squares! Hope I've given you a few ideas, in fact years before the editor I imagined building custom TR levelsusing the crumble-tiles...

you just can't go wrong with the mind-numbingly difficult run-across-the-large-area-of-collapsable-floor-and-somehow-get-to-the-other-side-again-without-falling-a-VERY-steep-height...

Answering /acknoledging questions and ideas:

Tomb_Raider_Nut- Good idea! I like the skull thing, since the textures I am using have skulls on them. That would make a great ending atmosphere, like in "Tomb of Set" when she has to get through the pharoahs face, but in that it is sand, not water. Like I said, great idea!

Lagoth Zanta- I got it from King Spyders site. if you want the url, either ask him or ask me to post it I am using Version 8, with the TR3 Huskies instead of the real TR1 wolves.

Raider of Tomb's Clone- You have some really good idea. I have to copy all that down to use in one of my levels with spikes. I agree, i like crumbling tiles, and the central pillar with the crumbling bridge has eight wolves in the rocks below it. I even have trouble getting away from them and climbing the ladder back up to the bride when i accidently fall off.

the_last_frustration- the bride with the pillar is like that. Although a room with the entire floor made up of crumble squares with fire below might be nice.

Now, I have an idea! A room with ropes (yes, I do have ropes) with a series of crumbling squares. You would have to swing from one rope to the other, but inbetween you would have to land on the crumbling squares. That would be really hard, mid-level type puzzle.

Well, while I build that, I would love to hear some more ideas for traps, and a lot of ideas for atmosphere. This level is in the peruvian mountains, and anyone who has played eith temple of Puna from TR3 or the Peru levels from TR1, i want that sort of atmosphere. A lot of waterfalls too!

Also, take a look at the storyline for this level and the levels that will follow it...

------------------
Many of Lara's past has remained a secret. Some of her exploits have never been disclosed by several governments. Where and how did Lara recover the lost Ark of the Covenant? Where did the strange chest of treasure come from that is now sitting in her gym?
Some of Laras exploits were kept well-gaurded by her own family. Where did Lara, as a young woman, and Von Croy go on their trip across Asia? How did young Lara escape from the crumbling temple at Angkor Wat?
Some of the heroing stories Lara herself never wrote down, before she...ran out of time. What were the details of that fateful Himilayan plane crash? What happened to the Atlanteon Scion anyway?

Now, all these questions, and more will be definitivly answered in...

I think I am receiving radio waves... that high-pitched whine in my ear just wavered again and then disappeared... Maybe i'm just tired.

What was that Raider of Tombs Clone??????

Anyway, bob5, that level sounds preety cool! Which WAD are you going to use?

About my level, I just realized that my WAD had a face in it! The incan god face, and that would be perfect for water to come out of! Then bob5 can have a really cool new idea that wasn't done before. But I don't have any waterfall objects in my WAD. Oh, well, I will think of something. Just will require a bunch of rooms intead of just one.

Any other suggestions? What else should be in the level? Underwater maze with transperent walls? Three temples, and a key to open a door in each one? What should the temples look like? Give me ideas! Oh, and what do you think of my storyline?
