RIP OFF!!! I mean the TR3 I bought. Apparently it isn't the full version. It cost me 10 bucks and isn't much more than a demo. It has a $10 rebate when you purchase the boxed game, but that rebate expired in March. I'm not going to buy the game again. I got ripped off big time. Watch out for anything marked SmartSaver or www.learningco.com. Don't buy it, it isn't the full software package. They are selling badly cut-down versions of the products, but don't tell you. I hope someone at Eidos/Core is reading this. They need to be more careful who they do business with in the future. This bad business deal (or irresponsible reseller) put one more black mark in their column.Too bad we can only put one icon on the message. I want mad, sad, and thumbs down.

It happens to everybody to buy the s**t which later appears not to be the one you expected. Look at the bright side: you ‘ve got one more experience in your life and and you’re not going to make it again and next time you see such a ”discount” you will know you should check it twice before you pull out your purse. Don’t be sad and mad for too long! At least your new TRMovie DVD is OK. So place it in the tray for a while and you’ll feel better!

I once saw a graphics accelerator card being sold with a cut-down version of TR3, I recall it was only the South Pacific levels, but I'm not totally sure. JanIP: Logged |

I bought TR4 for 10$. I had allready known about the rip off games so I looked at the cover for about 10 minutes in the store. I bought it, and then I checked the data folder and it only has 10 levels. It was my Bday present. Im still mad about it.IP: Logged |

WARNING! WARNING!NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM www.learningco.com (The Learning Company). They sell children's software. I bet none of it is complete products, just like the TR3 I bought. But worse, when I booted today, my firewall told me a new program was trying to connect. It was a program called DSSAgent, or Br0dcast. The program is called spyware. It installs invisibly, they don't tell you. It runs invisibly in the background. It connects to the Internet and sends and receives encrypted data. You aren't supposed to know it's there. Who knows what they are sending? This is privacy invasion at its worst. It is a violation of my right to control my own property. It is spying. Unfortunately, it is not illegal. Just wanted to warn everyone. I am on a campaign to make sure they stop this practice or go out of business. And just a note, install a firewall, even if you are on a dialup. It can save your machine. And I was just directed to AdAware, a package that detects and removes spyware like this. It is free and constantly updated. Kind of like an antivirus program.

I hate spyware. Too bad it sometimes destroys the application it was delivered with when deleted. You can check whether an application is a known spyer at http://www.spychecker.com , but I can't this one to work, so try http://www.alphalink.com.au/~johnf/dspypdf.html JanIP: Logged |

Email smita034, he has had experience with, he might know... ------------------ COMING SOON... I use Zone Alarm, and it has worked great for me. There is a free version and a pay version. The free version is the full firewall, but without as many configuration options. Just remember to turn off the alerts popup. It gets annoying, and doesn't really tell you anything. The other really popular one I know about is BlackIce. I haven't used it yet. tombs on the brain - This is a known program, not a trojan. It was developed by Mattel, and included in CDs they made with children's software. After COPPA was passed, they modified the program, then finally dropped it due to public outcry. Apparently some people are still using it.

Here are the ones I know about:Tomb Raider: Unfinished Business: This is the only one I've actually looked into in detail. This indeed includes all four levels. They are in both phd and tub formats, which I have yet to figure out the reason for. It also has the Tomb Raider Calender, Screen Saver, and Desktop Theme, all the patches for various video cards, several demos and AOL software. Tomb Raider II Starring Lara Croft: I haven't actually installed and played this one so, I'm going by the CD. This has Three Levels which are "The Great Wall", "Venice" and "Wreck of the Maria Doria" (I think the last one is correct. The file name is boat.tr2. If I'm wrong, please let me know and I'll fix this post). It also includes several demos and AOL software. It says on the back that is an OEM version. Tomb Raider III: Adventures in India: I also haven't installed or played this one, so I'm going by the CD again. Note: The tip-off that this isn't the full game is the time. The full game is title Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Lara Croft. This has five levels. They include the three India levels, a Boss level (No idea which one. The file name is tonyboss.tr2) and Lara's Mansion. Also included are two cut scenes, one FMV, AOL software and video drivers for six video cards (I assume this is to support TR3). It says on the back that is an OEM version. Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation: I don't have this one at all. All I can go by is what I remeber from seeing it in the store. It does say "Special Edition" or "Limited Edition" or words to that effect. I don't recall it saying it was an OEM version or how many levels are included. If what bob5 says is correct, then it should and I may have over-looked it. I'll look at it again the next chance I get (I may even buy it to complete the collection) and report back. Before anyone says "tough luck" or "too bad for you", I must say that I bought these on purpose. I bought Unfinished Business in order to have those levels on CD and I didn't want to buy the original again just for the Gold levels. It was a good deal, in my eyes. I got TR II out of curiosity. And I got TR III because it was the only version I could find at the time (I have the full version now). I have now regrets for buying either one and am not upset by the content either. Anyway, I thought you all should know what the content of each so you can avoid them if you want. aktrekker: Feel free to use this information in your complaint, what ever the format it may take. By far Zone Alarm is the best program to get, Black Ice can't compare to it.Go here: www.zonealarm.com To download it. One of its best features is that is automatically tells you when a program wants to access the internet. and gives you the option of not giving that program access. I really reccommend you download it. IP: Logged |
