i think that i will download it but i have IMPORTANT question in my mind:
is gmax:
1-create a whole game with your own characters and own levels?(create exe files and script......)
2-or it just edits other games that were designed by gmax?

sorry I kept the urls, but I forgot to download it. I will let you know, I am doing now. Anyhow I don't think it will be useful with TR games. Instead, I think it will be a good tool to edit and to preview our games, I don't know now if it is possible to realize even some exe for our games. I think NO, but I will be able to let you know once started building

oh that is not what i have expected gmax deals only with the games that were created by him like Flight simulator2002 and Dungeon seige so you can (create new characters-add new levels-edit the textures-create custome animations.......)

There is an option on the website to vote for the games you would like to see become available with GMAX - vote for TR

According to the Oct copy of Develop magazine to be able to modify a game the developer (ie Core/Eidos) must have bought a licence and ship a GMAX game pack - The current price for the licence is from $85K per title.

The cost of the developers 2 year licence for GMAX is also expensive at $10K

Maybe we will have to wait and see how the other titles do. Shame cos it looks so good

ok read this please:
GMAX is a platform application that allows you to create a scene containing objects with textures that can be either fixed or with animations (using bone sturcture or not). From there, having the proper Gamepack pluggin, you can export your scene into a game so you can actualy use it as a game componant (model, mapobject or map).

The animation scenes are mostly for creating all the frames of a player model (walking animation, shooting, dying, ...). You can acheive this by creating one master model and applying bone structure to it so you can then animate your bones to create the necessary animations. Advantage of using a bone structure is that you don't have to mess around with manualy moving all the parts of your model. Moving a bone will move any parts of you model automaticaly. That's how the gaming industry is creating player models.

Creating a fixed scene can be used for create a mapobject (lamp, chair, car or any other inanimate objects where you need a greater level of details then using map brushes) or for an actualy game map (the world where you actualy play in).

If you are planning to only use GMAX and no gamepacks at all, all your creations will be useless as no application or games will use them. It will allow you to learn the basics of how to use a 3D Max software (therefore geting experience into using a 3D Max product).

so i understand that gmax needs a (game pack) to apply what you create
so if there is a game pack for tomb raider that will be and we can do whatevere we want(animations-enemies-cutsences-..........)
ok now i want you all to vote for Tomb raider game pack for gmax
