Hi, I'm still stuck on trying to install it. I tried to follow the instructions you gave in GeckoKid's thread, but I thought I should start a new one to save me wading through 20 odd replies before getting to the help. I think the problem is that you, piega, are giving me instructions as a PC user. So I've referred to what you said in the other thread, and given you my comments and problems with it. Maybe Kris-Creg Michaels could give me the alternative instructions for Mac? Thanks.

----------------------
Previously......

Copy crusade2.TOM in the graphics, wads directory and rename it to crusade.TOM. Now go to the start menu and select "level converter".

Right, I'm on a mac, so I don't have a start menu. Where can I find the level converter? The folders I have in the window when I double click to open the TR Editor (installed on hard drive) are:-

1. TR Level Player (just opens up the Last Rev engine with new game, load game, e.t.c.)

2. TR Level Player Setup. (has graphics options e.t.c.)

3. TR RoomEdit

4. Tom2PC
ß
5. TR Editor Read Me! which says that it is perfectly easy to play PC made levels on a Mac. Ha!

6. Manual and Interface pdfs.

7. Script.dat, English.dat, Load.raw, EdgePTr.pcx, OBJECTS.H

8. Save, Audio, Data, Extra Textures, Graphics, Logo, Maps, Script, Sound folders

Click on "add" and select the tom file "crusade.TOM". Click "build" and the level will be build and put in the DATA map. Go to the DATA map and rename crusade.tr4 to crusade2.tr4. Now put crusade.TOM in the graphics wad directory. Dont rename this one but just build. Then convert crusade3.TOM. Replace the script.dat and english.dat with the other ones in the root directory. Also copy strings.h in this.

OK, could someone who plays on a Mac please tell me what the equivalent instructions are here. I would really, really appreciate it.

Run Tobraider, select new game and TATA, if you did everything right you wind up in "The Last Crusade"

Just out of interest, what is TATA?

Thank you for all help, past, present and future, I hope!

Hi Acceber, tomb2pc is the level converter. Start this program to build the levels out of the TOM files. This is where you click the "add" button and then on "build".

You made me laugh, TATA is just an expression like WOAH...

I'm glad some humour can come out of this situation.

Right, to clarify what I'm meant to do (because I don't think it's going to work) I rename the crusade2.tom file to crusade.tom. The level converter on the Mac is operated by dragging the required icon (i.e. the crusade.tom file) onto the icon for the level converter. However, when I tried this, it didn't work. It said the level or file couldn't be converted.

quote:
This is exactly what it says:Converting \Graphics\wads\crusade.TOM
ERROR: This is not a RoomEdit 24 .TOM

What else can I do? I'm starting to wonder if this is ever going to work. I think we need someone on a Mac to give guidance as well.

Thanks
Acceber

Did you copy the wads into the graphics, wads directory. If not it might be the problem that it will not convert the TOM file because the level converter will look for these files to build the level.

I followed your instructions in the other thread until it wouldn't work. Which was when the level converter refused to work.

Maybe I need step by step instructions from someone who has successfully installed The Last Crusade on a Mac.

I just plunked crusade.tom in the tomb2pc (the level converter) and it created the .tr4 file. You do have the WADs too, right? You need those files to make the .tom into a .tr4
If you dtill need help, just ask .

Well, I emailed the guy you mentioned, piega.

I'm thinking that I should probably just delete all the files I downloaded, and download them again.

Cris-Kreg... did you get an error message when you dragged the icons onto the TOM2PC icon?

Ah dear.

Acceber:
Here are the instructions below:

I would try downloading the files again, and then do it one at a time as follows.

1. Download both the .tom files AND the WAD files from http://version5.geckokid.com/trlevels/crusadeTOM.zip and http://version5.geckokid.com/trlevels/crusadeWADS.zip.
2. Take all of the WAD files (they are labled crusade.wad, crusade.was, crusade.sfx, crusade.cd, crusade.raw, crusade.sam, and crusade.swd and crusade.txt) for the first crusade(it will be in the WAD files that you downloaded) and put them into the wads folder inside of the graphics folder.
3. Now put crusade.tom into the wads folder.
4. You should now have everything for the first crusade.tom inside the wads folder.
5. Take the SCRIPT.DAT and the ENGLISH.DAT that you downloaded with the .tom files and place them where the original SCRIPT.DAT and ENGLISH.DAT were.
6. Go into the wads folder, and press and hold "crusade.tom". Drag it out of the wads folder and onto the icon labled "Tomb2pc", which is below the TRLP Setup.
7. Let go of the "crusade.tom" when it is over the Tomb2pc, like when you put something into the trash. The Tomb2pc will open itself when you drop a file in. DO NOT open it before hand, or you will get an error mesage. Just drag any .tom file in, and it will convert that file into a .tr4 file in the Data folder.
8. You should now have an icon in the Data folder with "crusade.tr4" as it's name. Now select the Level Player, and when the title screen starts rolling, press new game. And you will be on a fountain pillar. I will leave the rest of the Last Crusade game, which is really one of the best levels, for you to enjoy!

Hope that helped Try it out.

OK, thanks Cris! I've put all that info in a stickie.... I think I'll do it later tonight.

Just out of interest, how long did the downloads take for you? They took about 15 minutes each for me, but GeckoKid said something like they should only take 50 seconds....

It took about two mimutes for everything for me, but i have DSL, and that is really fast. So if everything is working, I would not worry about the time. Hope my instructions work. You understand them?

Cris-Kreg.... I would just like to say thank you so so much for your great instructions! I now have the crusade.tr4 file all there, so I'm about to play the level. Thank you very, very much, I am truly appreciative of the help you have given me. Hopefully, I will be able to do the rest of it myself now thanks to your instructions
