I am in level one of the Last Crusade. I have opened the gate to get the torch, but the only fire is in the pit where I got the first Trident. But I can not figure out how to get the torch back over the wall to the library storage area with the boulder. How do I do this?

Firstly make sure that the gate is open near the rope that isn't the boulder rope as this is the way you will get around with the torch, now jump into the pit and light the torch, get out of the pit and then make your way around to that rope I spoke about, after you complete what is necessary there (finding a secret) you will be able to reach the boulder rope from here.
