Some Virus's can infect your computer when contained in an attachment, by opening automatically like the W32 Badtrans b@mm virus. Here are a couple of patches for Outlook express. If you are running IE version6, you don't need it. If you are running IE versions 5 or 5.5 then the subsequent patch is for you. This one is for IE 5: http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10105-100-7992656.html?tag=st.dl.10001-104-4.lst-1-8.7992656 This one is for IE 5.5: http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10105-100-7992598.html?tag=st.dl.10001-104-4.lst-1-9.7992598

It's also a good idea to turn off VBScript support, and Windows Scripting Host. Most sites use JavaScript so you shouldn't lose functionality - If they do rely on VBScript or WSH, you need to decide if their flashy site is more important than your PC's security and remaining virus free. I've said it before but I'll say it again - PLEASE get yourself a Firewall - some will block Trojans from 'dialling home' , stop VBScript worms starting in the first place, and stop remote access to your system. There is a trojan out there that can be remotely written directly to your hard disk if you have disk sharing on and use the default drive 'names'. Also jhaving an Anti-Virus program is just Dandy - but not much use if you don't keep it up to date. As usual - any request or help will be treated in confidence ------------------ Conan the Barbarian email: conanthebarbarian@ntlworld.com a.k.a. Ted Swippet email:tswippet@hotmail.com IP: Logged |

Yup! I got ZoneAlarm right when I switched over to a Cable Connection. I tell ya it's probably the best Firewall there is!------------------ IP: Logged |
