I have a new computer. Great, a geforce 3 and lots of memory. But now tombraider crashes after a few times loading. Stripix does not seem to work anymore too cause i get an error everytime i try to load the retextured wad. This is not much fun to work with. Saving this "bug wad" again with TRwest gives me bums of Lara in most static slots but some retextured object i can import again in the wad i want. I have a VIA chipset and an AMD athlon 1600+. So i think this so called new computer is too "modern" for these programs to run. The editor loads fine so i can keep making Egypsian levels but who wants those If i could trade my old computer for my new one i did it right away!!! So i think this is the end of level-editing for me. Well i see what i can do. If not then its the end for me, good luck to you all making levels... IP: Logged |

WOW, i really did felt those joules Driber Thanks for cheering me up. I try to solve my problems. The 3D-card i have worked better on my old computer. All was running better then before with my Matrox. I think the problem is with my motherboard. With the VIA chipset i must use a Vgard-driver for my geforce and i think the problems are in there. I am installing my but of to make it work better. Still using windows 98 SE. Look for latest drivers, still it does not work right... IP: Logged |

piega I have this problem too: to not make the game to crash after two times you try it, you simply have to keep the editor opened. If you close it twice the game crashes.I did a lot of testes like this, and I was successful everytime I kept the editor opened even while playing the game. After twice I closed it, the tomb4.exe gave a directX problem (dhelp or something similar). It is a T&L problem. I have the same problem you have even for the STRpix, that's why I usually say to TP that previous version of strpix (3.5) is still the strongest one. I use 3.6 only to fix the collision infos. I hope all of this will help. IP: Logged |

Hi Psike, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I thought i was the only one and my tombraider needs where gone. Now that i know that it is a direct x problem. Does installing direct x 7 solves the problem or did you not try this? I use stipix 3.5 and this version screws up the wad. Do you have an older one that works? I downloaded new drivers for the 3d-card and the crashing seems to be gone now except for stripix. THANKS, Rene

strpix makes the wad to crash expecially if you previously edited your wad many times with trwest...So, chose you object, edit it from an official wad (or a one-time edited wad with trwest from the cd of tr4) then import with trwest this edited object into your custom wad. It is best to use a new wad for each new object you need to edit, then collect them all in a unic wad. I found that if you use tr2wad it is a very short way to make your strpix-wads get useless. Then strpix 3.5 is the best. As I said before, I use 3.6 only to fix the collision for static objects... every try I did with strpix3.6 and 3.5, even without changing anything to the new dxf's and even doing the same things, from the same wad, gave me an useless wad with 3.6 and a wonderful wad with 3.5. But I can't tell why... IP: Logged |

oh, btw, unfortunally (apart some external program which does not work to me) directX cannot be uninstalled from 8 to 7. Anyhow I had the problem since the 7, so I think (actually I am quite sure) it is the trasform and lightning matter. If you have the same problem like mine, you should see even in your editor missing poligons when you press "draw doors"... it is very hard to build levels in this way...
