for my title-screen flyby, I need to merge my 3 levels into 1does anyone know an easy way to merge multiple projects into 1 projects or know of some dark back-alley, hidden in the far corners of the internet that holds a program that does the job? if not: maybe a nice new projects for any of the programmers here? I don't think this would be used enough to justify an entire program. It is something that would be nice in the level editor. Maybe if someone is working on a [compatible] level editor, they might consider cut and paste of multiple rooms - between levels.

Hi aktrekker, I would use a program like this all the time. I am frequently having to move rooms between levels. How easy do you think it would be to create a program that is capable of doing this? WBM IP: Logged |

This was one of the first things I´ve noticed with the Editor. Unfortunately the Editor cannot do that... UNFORTUNATELY!IP: Logged |

I know, that's why I'm asking here I'm sure that with a few long nights of programming, someone with a great knowlage of the .prj format could achive this it will be of great use to the level editing community, because I've heard many people asking if this is possible so if anyone is willing to give it a go, (s)he might just end up with a status of great respect like Michael L. Jelarcic and Turbo Pascal... [This message has been edited by Driber_IF (edited 12-10-2001).] IP: Logged |

A couple of days is pretty optimistic. It could be done, but there would be restrictions: 1) None of the rooms in one project could overlap any rooms in the other project. Well, since the LE does seem to handle overlapping rooms, this one might not be so serious. 2) The projects must use the same WAD file. 3) The projects must use the same TGA file. Even using the same TGA file, it is possible to blow texture memory by combining 2 projects. 4) You might end up over the limit of lights, triggers, or objects. That was just off the top of my head. There are alot of things to consider, like both projects having animated texture ranges, you must check if they are duplicates. Same for all the partial-tile textures. Renumbering the rooms is also an issue, because you have to renumber them in doors, objects, triggers, lights, etc. None of it is particularly hard programming, but the file format is still not exact, so the resulting project might have some problems. Now if you only want to copy certain rooms between projects, things get alot more complicated.I'm a little busy right now. Just started a new job working nights, and it really messed up my schedule. And I'm having problems turning the room mesh back into textures in a project. I need to spend more time on it now that I'm getting settled into my new schedule. And I was considering a...well, that's a secret for now. Needs more research. In other words, I don't really have time right now, or I would do it.
