before i embark on learning cameras...can anyone give me a lamens description on how its done or supply tips??

Normal and fixed cameras are very easy to learn.

Place the camera and a trigger for it.
Type the time you want the camera to work in the timer field.
If you want the camera to turn on only once, press One Shot in the trigger for the camera.
Fixed cameras stay on even if lara uses her weapons, so they´re better for some situations.
Proceeding like this will make the camera look at Lara when triggered. If you want the camera to look at a different spot (a door opening for example), place a Camera Target object by the place in question and trigger it at the same place as the camera. Choose Target as trigger type for it.

All in all it´s all in the manual.
