I believe the limit for the amount of rooms must be 256 as I exceeded that and manage to crash the level convertor, however, having deleted a few unecessary rooms, the level now converts admirably.
All I need to do now is add the cameras and character scripts. I believe the level should be ready for download in two weeks time.
The level will carry a 12 certificate as it does contain some creepy scenes.

'ZING' is not a word that I am familiar with, however I will make an exception to 'YOINK'.

After I had selected a few rooms, I simply just copied parts of them. The useful thing about this, is that you only have to add a light bulb; the ambience is already set up from the previous room. It also allows for maximum rooms i.e. 256.

I will be posting a few screenshots very soon.

It is the grenade launcher. If you can find it in the level, believe me, it will be invaluable, if not, get ready to perish several times.
The level will have a range of puzzles, one of which I believe is unique, it will also contain four different enemy types plus an invisible one.
I cannot tell anymore as it would spoil the surprise. I hope that everyone will enjoy it, even if you might not want to play it alone.

There is already an old trick to get more rooms in the editor instead of copy rooms all the time. When you reach room 100 make it a fliproom. Delete it. Rooms will be added and you can select rooms again without crashing the editor.

The convertor will still crash if it exceeds 256 rooms according to my own tests, however, thank you for your tip.

Does that change depending on the size of the rooms? Or is it *strickly* only 256?

I believe the limit is actually 254 rooms. The TR4 file uses 0 and 255 for special purposes.

Well if the converter crashes after 256 rooms i will believe it. But there are more reasons why a level crash. If you go over the 755000 alocate file buffer. A reason why a level wont show information while converting is because the texture info is too high. Keep it below 300.

Hi Treeble. It is easy to keep it below 300. Most levels wont come over 100. But the more accurate designers take a lot of split textures. With each new selected split tile the info will raise with one. I build my first level (catacomb towers) too accurate and had a texture info of 357. Way too high and that's why some people can not play it because of an older 3D-card.

Hi Data,

Your work looks very appetising. I am looking forward to downloading it. Congratulations on the (near) completion of your first level and your 1000th post.

May you inhabit these shores frequently and give birth to many more good looking levels.

Best wishes for the forthcoming year.

Scatydude: They are the Harpy from Cleopatras Palace.

Suzy Croft: It is a custom wad, and the project is still going; albeit a little slowly.

Phabius Phodes: There are, and I will be posting them soon.

Wee Bald Man: Thank you for your kind words and hmm........ I must run a level 3 diagnostic for I did not realise my post count. Is it significant in any way?, Is there a prize?

my room limit is 75 for some strange reason which really pilloxed my level up, that was after buying a new pc and going back from win xp to 98 in order to get things running again. So i guess i am back again. Your first level, that is cool i thought i was taking along time, i am still only half way through, now my machine is cool with the editor i will have to finish what i started, may even try to push the room numbers up.
level looks cool btw
