Hi,

Yes, i know that severals peoples are having problem with this feature, i admit that using this in severals object make the wad crash the game. This is the info about this problem that currently i found, please take note:

- ONLY the Value "127" in the shining control WILL WORK. any other value will not have any effect.

- If is aplied to some mesh from the SKIN_JOINt slot the the game will crash.
could be others mesh that will make the game crash as well, i have not tested all.

- Only mesh with "normal" light method can have the shiny effect, objects with the "lambert light" method will make the game crash. This mean that all originals statics mesh from any wad will crash the game if the effect is used on in...but this can be easely fixed:

For Make able to put the shiny effect to static mesh then just export the object to DXF and then Import back, (when a model is imported strpix does always combert the lighting method to the "normal lighting" method), then you can apply the shiny efect safely.

- For some reason in some meshes the shiny effect look "translucent" (like glass), we do not know exactly why but mister tijay found a important clue.

- And for be sure that your wad is not crashing for a trwest incompatibility, please do your work in a "clean" WAD.

I will try to contact to Popov and to michiel to discuss this problem, so stay tuned and please report if you found somthing new.

thak you very much.

Hi Turbo,
I had found out something:
The TR4-exe also shows the shiny effect with a lower value then 127.
I took the Skins of the original TR5-Lara (it has the value "66")
then I retextured some parts of the Skins with Value "127" and saved it.
Then in game the retextured parts of Lara where much brighter then the original parts.

And the pistoles in menue have a Value of "2" but the shiny effect was shown in game.
And I also found out, that the Value (when I put a Texture with value 50 or other) changes, when I choose this Texture again (STRG and Leftclick on this texture) in strpix.
Thank you
Tomo

Have you got any idea why this doesn't work?

Ps, can you have the shining effect too when you use par example red, blue or grey textures?
