Is this possible? I really want flares to give out a red light. The green looks horrible...

Horrible...with certain orange textures in the dark, that is. It makes everything go all pasty.

It is hard-coded, but it should be easy to change it to red by using an hex editor and replacing the green colour value with the red colour value. The problem is finding the value for it.

You can get it at www.downloads.com
You'll have to search for one.
What is it?
It's a program that allows you to see and edit the code of any file.

i hate to be quoted but i believe in the early tomb raider games (1 and 2) she used an orange flare that was suppose to be a flame. you maybe could look around there or give you a starting point for reference.

Er, maybe I'll regret pointing this out, but if you're using the hex editor to edit the tomb4.exe, (as the flare colour is hard coded)...

isn't that just a tiny bit illegal?

I wouldn't be put off by that. The unofficial tools are a "little bit illegal" anyway. So, it doesn't really matter. Most of all, who really cares?

I believe that TRviewer, TRwest and StrPix are all technically illegal (modifying property of Core Design Ltd), but I assume you use these, right? And custom objects...whoooh, I'm gonna get a paper bag for my head when my next game comes out.

Technically, yes. But since Core and Eidos don't mind, it doesn't matter. It's akin to the fact that it's illegal to be on someone else's property. But if the person doesn't mind, there's nothing wrong with it.
