Okaies thanks to this *cough* ""Easy to use"" operating system, known otherwise as WinXP, I now have to have two damned hard drives with one running XP an' the other ME.Because of the great new features, which of course include 'how to p!ss of the user' and 'all your best games don't work, the later causing wonderful crashes with TR4? I need it to extract files, but I'm filling up my sys with games that don't bleedin' work, even the setup or autoload crash the damned thing. The strange thing is, the old, TR2 works fine?!?! I mean what ACTUALLY do the people at Microsoft do, besides making the newest and greatest in all things that don't work? No relevance at all but, Dungeon Keeper 2 and Gangsters are another two games that won't run?! Does anyone have a spare hammer I can intstall on my hard drive? you know....beat it up a 'lil then maybe it'll work? Other than that, any ideas you gots to would be great. Thanks, Mage Vivi IP: Logged |

I sympathize...I'm running ME and several Jane's games won't work. I have noticed, though, that TR2 is the most stable Tomb Raider game. Period. I have no idea why this is...IP: Logged |

I got rid of xp after just buying it, the companies support sections all said, well it was never designed to work under xp, get out clause no. 246.... I would rather have 99 games running under 98, rather than 2 running under xp and the rest displaying quirky behaviour. Alot of games mess up as it is without new operating systems. It is about time all companies from hardware to software where goverened by an indepedant watchdog, to assure the market is not flooded by upgrade after upgrade, without backward compatibilty, i understand that if a game is really old then it is in the realms of ones own ability to understand the workings of a pc, dos etc. But a game 6 months old and does not recognise even the same system as mine, i.e. the company wrote the game on a pc with almost identical hardware, after you with that hammer please. win98 looks like the most stable OS although they're all pretty dodgy.Jaxx IP: Logged |

I don't like the sound of windows XP. I think I will stick to ME, as it is not causing ANY trouble.IP: Logged |

Could this possibly have anything to do with the near release of the X-box? Cos' the damned Microsoft box wouldn't sell here otherwise?IP: Logged |

I don't have a clue what any of you are talking about. My Win XP Pro runs TRLE perfectly! Also it's the most Stable OS i've ever seen! Are you sure you aren't doing something wrong? I hear people have trouble when they upgrade from 98 to XP instead of deleting 98 first.. Perhaps that's the problem your having? Trust me XP runs TRLE and everything wonderfully!IP: Logged |

The new is not always the best. Win 98 SE rules!I own a professional recording studio, with the best high technology tools of the 21st century. But among these things are gear and instruments from the 60s and 70s! And these are unreplaceable, believe-me! My recording system, Pro Tools (which is a extremely expensive system) runs ONLY in Win 98 SE. So donīt worry. The trick is simply to extract the best from what you have, donīt matter if its new or old. And advertisement of course tells you only the good things about a product, not the bad ones. And to Microsoft I would like to say: Guys, you make the best OS around, you could only improve it to make it work... IP: Logged |

Yeah my TRLE runs fine. I upgraded Me >> XPro. Okaies so I get an error message every so often but it's TR4 that won't run, not the editor.IP: Logged |

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I heard that there are two versions of xp - Home Edition and Professional. It sounds like that XP Professional can support TRLE.IP: Logged |

Yeah there are two versions, and I know at least mine and sage's support TRLE with XPPro, but I couldn't tell you about the home edition.MV IP: Logged |

Even the TR4.exe runs fine, I haven't seen any problems with XP. I'm not totally sure why so many are having these problems.. But I can honestly say it's not a XP problem by itself. Something else (Maybe even certain XP Versions) is causing these problems. Thankfully my XP is running like a Dream..IP: Logged |
