I was just wondering, what projects are other people in this forum working on?

I'll release my first level - Temple of Armageddon as soon as I'll get to know how to get Room Tex Infos below 300 (I have 401),
so plz reply to this too if you know how to fix this...
Now I'm working on a game which will be made of about 9-11 levels, where Lara's objective will be to find a priceless dimond, but in order to find it, Lara was to dearch for 4 key artefacts, that unlock the sanctuary, where the diamond is kept. Lara will start in Antarctica, go on in a strange underwater laboratory, where she'll find even more strange things. Then she'll go to a spooky forrest, a modern mansion and finally the 'MOO' island (nothing to do with cows, it is a lost continent, just like Atlantis), where the sanctuary is hidden. And if I'm not too lazy I'll make a bonus level.

You may help me with my 1. levels trouble, and may say what you think about the game I'm making, but don't forget why this topic was made! Tell others and me about YOUR projects.OK?

Can't wait to read the replies!!!

I will try to explain my project, not giving away anything helpful. It may sound short, but there is a lot more to it than this...

I am creating a city. It is sunset, and Lara is on some kind of mission. She has to sneak through a hotel to a certain room, which she can use as a vantage point. She can see perfectly the room where she has to go to from the hotel room, and download enemy information by getting to that room. Once that's done, she is to use transportation to exit the city.

There are lots of people I can thank for making this level possible, but credits go into the read-me file. When it's released.

Hi Etux

actually i am also working on a project myself since i bought trle in 2001. Since i am not that skilled in level building i still started a project my self. Its about 16 levels devided into 4 different worlds.

You can devide this in catogory

Egyptian, Aztec, Mayan, Uknown Civ. I also devided 4 different parts of countries. Egypt, India, Alaska or Antartica ( not sure yet something with ice/snow ) The last part takes place in China.

Story:

Lara is walking around her house on a sunny day, She decides to take a look in her trophy
room, she walks in her secret room and looks at the scion, sword of Xian, lost artefacts
and so on. She thinks that she had a pretty much adventure, reminding her the temples in
her first adventure. She goes to her library and looks around when she notices a book.
She picks it and begins to read it. It is a book about the City of Sanus,

Sanus Thungai was a powerful and rich man who lived 1000 years ago. He had built a large
city to show how powerful he was, he was also according to people a wizard, a power wizzard
with great powers, with a single pointing of his finger he could let lightning strike anywhere.

* Lara reads on... *

people began the fear sanus, they tried to kill him, capture him. But non of them worked. Sanus
wasn't a evil person, people were just afraid of his powers. Sanus died from an rare illness.
The people forgot Sanus in time, and his city was also forgotten. For many years no one ever
knew there ones was a City of Sanus, it was forgotten in time.

Now the legend say that the city is still out there, hiding it mysterious side, hiding great powers.
Before sanus died he knew that his city will be destroyed or forgotten, but just in case he used
a spell to cloak the city. He used the power of the sun, earth and moon to make sure that no one
will find his treasures and powers. He threw away 4 keys around the world. Each key was lost
somewhere in the world. As for sanus he just waited for his death

Later the other cultures like Egyptians found a key falling from the sky, they though it was holy.
So they hide it in there Sun temple of Ra, because the key came from the sun sky. The other keys
were also found by other civs, they also thought it was holy and they hided the keys.

A legend says: When darkness comes, light is revealed

Lara decides to find out more about this city, she hires some archaeologicals to Unicode some Chinese
old writing. The next sentence was de-coded:

"When human finds 4 keys, combines the sun, earth and moon in a row to symbolise a sun
collapse, then the city will reveal it self"

Lara spends many days figuring how to solve the riddle, no one ever has seen the keys, but she
knows that the sun earth and moon are symbols. A sun collapse can only exist if the moon
blocks the sun, so the moon it between the earth and sun, the 4th key is must be a kind a key hole
to put the keys in there places. When this is done the key hole and the 3 keys, sun, moon and earth. will become 1 combined key and as the legend
says

When darkness comes, light is revealed

Lara has found the riddle, she decides to search for the keys, and this brings her in another adventure

The Forgotten City of Sanus.

Well long story, may sound cool, but like i said, the 1st 4 levels are start. But you have to start somewhere right ? Maby after i am done with all 16, i will remodel everything to make it a great project. And i am doig this project like you, on my own

PS-

Cant help you with the Room tex problem, i read that you must reduce your texture set. Maby thats the solution.

I´m about 30% done with the last level of "Lara Croft And The Quest For The Asphaeings Amulet". It´s my 3rd level. One complete year to make 2,3 levels! I´ve learned a lot with the Editor since december 2000, but there are some hidden tricks I´ve discovered just now... Since my first level "City of Blezqi Zatsaz" was considered one of the best custom levels when it came out, I think it´s a matter of patience and care. It took me more than 3 months to complete. You can make your very first level a classic if you spend the right time on it. So before releasing a level, review it and test it many times. Check your textures, check your triggers, correct your bugs! And play other levels, compare! And if needed, change yours before releasing it. I´ve seen many great levels made by very young people, and poor levels made by older people. And vice versa. I think it´s a matter of how much time and effort you can put in it, not the amount of experience and information you have in your brain.

I agree Phabio, its not about the type of knowledge you got in the level editor, its the view of you on your level.

Taking care of your level does indeed makes in more beautiful. I am now working on the 4 new levels. I had made them quick, but now i see things much wider, so i am remodeling every thing, its not going to be perfect, cause perfection doesnt excists. It is going to be better then before.

I use Inspiration as building source, i get inspired by playing Tr3 levels, i esspecially love the India and Pacific ocean levels.

I made my first level since I finished the tutorial (since last years summer i think).
And thats why I'm so edgy about releaseing my first level, Maybe the textures there aren't perfectly chosen and the level looks quite colorfull, but it's a good level I think, coz I put a LOT of work into it. I think you'll enjoy it when it's gonna be released

And, Yasin, I think a single level is like a small project too, thats why I expected more replies, I thought most of the others think that way too, and are going to tell about their 'small projects' too

I've reduced the texture set almost by a half, but the Room Tex Infos still aren't low enough (378), does deleting objects somehow help, I can't afford reducing the set by another texture!
