Iīm using the Karnak WAD. I have a monkeyswing bridge over a stack of three rooms. Beside the monkeyswing, only sky. The monkeyswing is two to four clicks down from the ceiling of the top room. The monkeyswing makes a T in the middle of the room. Well, baddy 2 is monkeyswinging normally after Lara, but if I make a turn in the T intersection, he sometimes monkeyswings under the transparent portions of the ceiling. As the top of the room is two to three clicks higher than the monkeyswing, he just disappears from the monkeyswing and imediately reappears monkeyswinging on the sky! Then he may come back to the monkeyswing. Iīve tried to place gray boxes (as this is usually the way of stoping baddies from making silly things) around the monkeyswing, only in the top room, but it didnīt work...

I did nothing to make him monkeyswing, just triggered him. If thereīs a reachable monkeyswing in the room, heīll grab it after you. And if he reaches you in the monkeyswing, heīll hit you and make you fall. Baddie 2 initial settings make him do that.

Iīll check the bottom rooms now. Maybe if I place the boxes there, around whatīs the monkeyswing in the upper room... I donīt know...

The stranges thing about this is that core design didn't use this in one of their tr levels.

I think i read about this in the manual that a baddy does monkey swings after you. Fuzzy, but i think there was something like this.

On the other hand, Fabio, Baddy that can monkey swing is a good challange for chases But i think you prefer a baddy that doesnt comes after lara

use the BOX feature to make him avoid the squares where you don't want him to go.

(oops sorry, maybe you already tried this.. yes, use them since the room below).

Yes! The trick is to put boxes in the rooms below. Iīve placed boxes all around the area where the monkeyswing is, but in the rooms below, not the top room where the monkeyswing actually is. Heīs not monkeyswinging on the sky anymore.

And yes, itīs a cool way to interact with this baddie, as there are many combinations of traps possible with him and Lara on the monkeyswing. If they come near each other, heīll hit her and she will fall.

Core used this in The Great Hypostile Hall. Itīs said in the manual, I think.

I think it should be better to put the less boxes you can.. infact if he falls down, then he is trapped.. in some point you should let him to go "out" of the corridor of boxes.. so try to get the right animations for him, but even the most of variety... well this is a suggestion, so the room could be much more challenging!!

Yeah Psiko, there are 3 points where he can get out of the monkeyswing. Actually, in this particular room, heīs triggered after the monkeyswing, when Lara is already on the ground again. But, if the player goes back through the monkeyswing (this is necessary, cause at the other end thereīs a trigger for a timed door) he will follow her. But Iīll experiment with other combinations in rooms to be built from now on in this level.

(don't tell anyone) ehehehe LOL

(if you use the monkey trigger, Lara will trigger anything ONLY while monkeying, so the enemy could appear very suddenly.. but be carefull as people can use the side monkey movement and they could see the enemy appear from nowhere..)

(this could be very beautiful and unexpected..)

The monkey trigger is also good for cameras which can show Lara from the bootom of the room while sheīs monkeyswinging. Thatīs a cool perspective. Iīve used that in my second level "Temple of Azzivullas".

You can also make a small low corridor with burning floors and the monkey swing, then trigger a rolling ball or other trap with the monkey trigger. Difficult to scape from this trap, as she move slowly through the monkeyswing.
