Does anyone (desperate plea) use a MAc and have managed to get the level editor to work. I have had problems saving the level and then loading them to play. I treid downloading a PC custom level as I read they were compatible with Macs but I cant get that to work either. I am getting very frustrated as love Tomb Raider and have always hoped to design and build my own levels. My hopes seem to be dashed as the manual is PC based as it so unsuitable for Mac users. Please help!!JONNA IP: Logged |

Hi Jonna!I am using the TRLE on a mac. So believe me it works! The level editor itself is working as described in the manual. Just be sure to choose the correct folders while saving your .prj-file and outputting the wad (as .tom-file). The best way to start is to experiment with an existing project like tut1.prj (leave that renaming of files for later as it is a bit buggy on the mac). When it comes to build a level from an 'outputted WAD' the mac version is different: Open the wads folder and drag&drop the specific .tom-file onto the Tom2PC-application. The rest goes like magic Now you can test the changes you have made in the level player. Well, this is just the basic procedure! But I hope it helps to get started?! maxx IP: Logged |

hi Jonna, welcome to the forumyes, MAC users have it a little more difficult than PC users, but as far as I know, all levels from people made using a PC are fully compatible with the MAC, it is only a question on how that level is distributed for instance, you can open a .TOM file from a PC user, but you can't open a selfextracting .exe file that contains the .TOM file ------------------ Tomb Raider - Ancient Legends levels (2), walkthroughs, tutorials, wallpapers and other TR goodies on driber.cjb.net visit the TRLE Chatbox for live online help or just to get to know your fellow forum members :) IP: Logged |

uh ... well, yes ... I forgot about that "playing-other-levels"-thing.You have to put the files of a custom level you have downloaded to the correct folders: .wav (if any) to the audio folder, script.dat/english.dat to the Tomb Raider Editor folder (overwriting the existing .dat files), either the .tr4 to the data folder or if the level is distributed with .was/.wad/... files these to the wads folder (in the graphics folder). Then drag&drop the .tom file to ... same as I described above (skip that step if the level came as .tr4 file and start playing). I found it useful to make a copy of the whole Level Editor folder on the desktop and do these changes there. So I save my original files. maxx IP: Logged |
