Check out this link then:
http://www.computerarts.co.uk/news/story.asp?newsFeature=31628

This is the software, or at least a special version of the software that ID software are using for the 3D models and animation in Doom III.

Wow - what a find!

Thanks for pointing that out Dhama.

First there was gMax and now this.. [WBM looks out of his window at the world getting ready for an all out 3D war..].

I guess this is where I get to see a grown man cry....

Also take a look at some of their downloads at Computer Arts site, there's some great stuff there.

Stupid website crashed my browser when I CLOSED the window!!!

Not really looking to be an animator, and since the models can't actually be used (the watermark) I probably won't download.
I already have Poser 3 but haven't really used it yet. Latest version is Poser 4. It is really hard to find any Poser 3 models, they are all Poser 4 now. If you have Painter 3D, it can load Poser 3 models and I think turn them into DXF files.

Whoops I slipped up - change that to "followed by pink bathing cap falling off".

Interesting question. Maybe it doesn't do DXF? Although I find that unbelievable. Maybe it adds lines into the mesh to spell out MAYA?

I seem to recall the thing on the "official" maya site said something about non-commercial file formats (I got the link from another forum... was gonna post here but dhama beat me to it ).

So, no DXF I guess

When I originally posted this topic here, and sorry for beating you to it Suzie, it wasn't because it may be used with TR, it was because it gives us all an opportunity to become object animators, or at least to learn on one of the best pieces of software ever; and perhaps use this as an entry into the wonderful world of game design.
DON'T WASTE IT.....who knows, you could be taking part eventually in a future Tombraider / Lara Croft project.
