I'm new to TRWest, so sorry if this is a common and/or easily fixable error, or if this problem has come up before, I don't know. Anyway...

Everytime I try to save my WAD, a message pops up saying there has been "a fatal error" and that I will lose all "unsaved information"... in other words, the WAD I was about to save. This has happened the last (which also happen to be the first) 5 times or so I've tried to save on TRWest, and it's getting on my nerves.

Help?

[Btw, does the fact that I'm using that irritating piece of crap otherwise known as Windows XP have anything to do with it? ]

You need to add ".WAS" to the end of the file name, for example "mywad.WAS". The program can only save WAS files and don't "know" to add ".WAS" to the end of the file name automatically.

Isn't it about time the program was made a little smarter? Hint, hint....

Guess a remark like that should have a smiley .

I never needed to add .was in TRWest. I always used TRWest since version 2.0 was released and I never had any problems or had to put .was at the end of the wad name.

The problem only happens with certain versions of Windows. I had a discussion with the writer of the program shortly after v2.0 was released and it was discovered that mostly non-english versions have this problem. The weird thing was my Win98 SE USA version did the same thing (which is why we were discussing it). The last I heard from him was he was tracking the problem. Then we all lost track of him. That's been some time ago, so we'll all have to deal with it until he shows up again.

I have the Portuguese version of Windows 95 and don't have any problem.
