There are a few options that can be selected in Paint Shop Pro for color reduction. Which options should be selected for a result that looks closest to the original texture file/picture?
I've had InfranView for a awhile, and that is very good with decreasing color depth. Picture files lose some vibrance, but the way it dithers makes a good result.
If u have a good method for color reduction in Paint Shop Pro, I'll try that out.

I might be able to help you with that, but I would need to know what the purpose is or what you're trying to achieve

Different methods work for different types of images. Try each one on the default settings and see what they look like. Pick the one that looks best and fiddle with the settings.
After awhile you will get a "feel" for which method might work best with a particular image.
