There is only ONE POST in the "Tomb Raider Lever Editor" forum! WHERE DID ALL THE INFORMATION GO?! Didn't anyone else recommend posts to be saved? Think of all the OCBs, all the tips-'n-tricks, all the tutorials - GONE. IP: Logged |

Not exactly, Just the ones that are older than 30 days, and with less than 25 replies. That way all the OT, sig tests, OT, and other miscellaneous rubbish can be removed. If there is something else that you want saved, and isn't covered in the FAQ, reply to 006901.html and it'll be taken considered! ------------------ LARA'S WARDROBE IT'S NOT ALL BOOTS AND BULLETS! Thank God. I thought the forum had been completely purged and everything valuable moved to the TRLE Archives section (above post), where I found: one post. But I just toggled the "show all topics" option and found 148 pages of treasure trove. Sorry to put another needless post in this already full forum. IP: Logged |

The next purge, which will be held in a couple of days, will sweap away ALL threads, also the ones with more than 25 replies Make your archive request in time, so it won't be gone from the forum forever. Also, before the purge I will save all the 7400+ threads to my harddisk and I might add them all to a zipfile and upload it on my website in case there is a need to still view one of the ancient threads. ------------------ Driber's Homepage | TRLE Chatbox | TRLE FAQ and Community | Objects Archive "Virtue: You don't need a reason to help people - Final Fantasy" [This message has been edited by Driber_IF (edited 01-26-2002).] IP: Logged |

Good idea Driber. I've done that with forums before. I just don't have the bandwidth anymore to download the entire forum. But having a zip file would make it small enough to download. Come to think of it, being able to search and index using more sophisticated tools would be great. Compiling tips and tricks into single documents could make some great tutorials. Will you make the zip file available?

I have asked advise at the administrators regarding possible copyright, but if given the green light, I will upload the zipfile, which I estimate will be around 28 MBI'm curious, what sophisticated tools did you have in mind? More sophisticated search tools to gather related information. Basically something like advanced boolean searches, allowing greater flexibility in finding related posts.Oh, will the zip file include all previously archived topics?

I've been looking for a program that can do advanced boolean searches through documents for a long time. So far I found the find&replace options in Dreamweaver very useful, but I am looking for something better. Can you advise any programs?Yes, all archived threads are part of the forum and have therefor been saved as well. IP: Logged |

Hey why dont people just save a thread to thier own hard drive? i save things that are fun/important to *.mht files and they are so small it doesnt matter! just a thought....it would save driber having to do all that work! IP: Logged |

Don't know of anything for the boolean searches off-hand. I was going to write something to pull all the posts and place them in a DB. Most DB have extensive search capability.

I haven't really used Access, except one time just to start getting familiar with it. You could use scripts to perform some pretty complex searches. There are also free database packages. Things like MySQL, that provides a full SQL interface to the database, instead of proprietary scripting.
