I have used TR2WAD1.6 to extract a wad from the original TR1 disc, and used TRWEST to take a door from the wad and replace Door_1 in my custom wad with the TR1 door.

The problem is that although door_1 in my wad has a sound to it ( dr_bgsto.wav ) the new door is silent.

I have the sound included in my sounds.txt and i have run pcwadsfx but the sound still doesn't work.

Does anybody know how i can assign the dr_bgsto.wav to the new door?

I thought that putting it in the door_1 slot would do the trick ,as door_1 has sound but obviously not.

The reason i want the TR1 door by the way is, because the TR1 door front and back panels are made from a single texture tile, rather than being split into 16 ,like most of the TR4 doors, saving the hassle of cutting a texture tile into 16 pieces.

Any thoughts on how to get the sound working, or how to assign specific sounds to objects is greatly appreciated

OK... i solved the problem.....i didn't have the entry for the sound in the SAM file.
I created that, then run pcwadsfx and it worked.

yes. Because the TR1 sounds are not in the sounds folder from TRLE and the numbers are differend, you must edit the SAM file to set the filename or build a new sound file.

I would like to have a detailed information on how to do that! I mean a step by step tutorial. I´ve never had to deal with adding sounds, but I will now.

Please!

Yes the info is there, but clear as a cave with no flares. This is one of the things I would like to see in the advanced manual people are talking about...
