The information (i.e., "no climbing on top") is hard-coded into one of the game files. I put a RAISING_BLOCK1 into a PUSHABLE_OBJECT3 slot, and Lara could not climb on it. It was already in its "triggered" mode (that is, it was risen from the beginning), but I couldn't climb on it. So we have to find out what (and where) tells the game not to allow standing on pushable objects. IP: Logged |

If you can change the collision on the pushable block to say half way down the block you can create a room above and use mulitple flipmaps to put a climbable surface above the block. It should work------------------ Currently Working On; Lara's Toy Story Often in the Chatbox / AOL Instant Messenger Name is : GoTenchiZ , MSN ; Gokuz99@hotmail.com IP: Logged |

Troosevelt...Have you tried actually using the "edit object" dailog in the editor? I did that a few weeks back... came up with some pretty funny results! (Using the regular pushable block ripped from TR3). The block started floating in mid-air... ------------------

the collision of the pushable objects in TR4 is hardcodet in the Exe. in TR5 the pushable block (you can find it in the colloseum) is also NOT climbable.Tomo IP: Logged |

Is it in anyway possible to combine it with a raising block? Those can be climbed on. There is also a static object in the guard wad that can be climbed on. So this got to be a collision thing. If it is in the exe file then i guess it cant be done. There where also iron bookcases in the backstage part of Chronicles. There are put in there under 4 click walls so you can push them but not climbing them...tricky those core-designers IP: Logged |

What if you flip the room?, I mean, you move the block forwards, it activates a heavy trigger for flipping rooms, with a 4-click raised square, so Lara would clim the raised sqare in the place of the pushable block.

very good thinking! unfortunatly, this method has already been thought up and it seriously limits the freedom of a REAL climbable, pushable block ------------------ Driber's Homepage | TRLE Chatbox | TRLE FAQ and Community | Objects Archive IP: Logged |

Static objects can be made climbable. I don't think any of the moveables can.

Okay, forgive my ignorance but, how do you make a static object climable? Is it a "dummy" trigger or is it something other than that? I've looked through the manual and all I can find refrence to is the bridge (in a movable slot) and the raising sand (also in a movable slot). Also of note, "dummy" triggers don't work for pushable objects .

This technique is possible, but it may not work:Split the room with the pushable block into 1-square rooms and connect them. In each room, make a flipmap with the floor raised four clicks. In the connected rooms, texture the walls of the flipped rooms' raised floors that will appear on the walls when you 'forget' to turn off flipped mode. In each room, place a heavy trigger for the flipmap of the room you place the trigger in. Also place a heavy antitrigger for all the other square rooms. It may work. It may not work. ------------------ Hey! Look out! That swinging axe! It's coming towards you! IP: Logged |

To make static objects climbable, use the Edit Object function in the LE. You can ignore the little grid it displays, as it appears to do absolutely nothing. Use the +/- buttons to set the height of the object in clicks. Then Lara can climb onto the object. There is one problem with this method. This only makes one block area climbable. If the object is bigger than one block, the part that goes off of the block where you place the object will not be climbable. Like the Tut sarcophagus, which covers 2 blocks. Only one half of the object can be made climbable like this. But for objects that are one block or smaller, it works great. This same method raises moveables up in the air instead of setting their height. And it places an invisible block under them. I suppose this could make an interesting effect, but I don't think anybody has used it yet.
