I'm working on a catacombs based level.
I downloaded and installed the revised wads, and I'm pretty sure one of the new things in the wad file was a ceiling and floor trapdoor.
Now, when I put a trapdoor in over a hole, it looks normal in editor. When I play the game to test,it either turns into a flameholder, or looks like a beetle running, then game crashes!??
Where did the door go? Anyone have this problem, should I reinstall revised wads?
Also, is it possible to put a ceiling/floor trapdoor on a sloped surface? It only goes in horizontal...
TIA.

This is usually the result of trying to create a .TOM with with another wad than the one actually used in the .PRJ file. It appears you have mixed up different wads, as the revised wads do not contain any new objects.

And no, you can't make horizontal trapdoors parallel with a sloped surface. The inclination is fixed, and if you want to change it, you'd need a different object. Unfortunately, none of the TRLR wads contains such a trapdoor.

I think I got it fixed, but probably went the loooong way.
I first tried to load the texture and objects files, then load prj, but all the extra items still there.
I then loaded prj, then the text. and objects, same thing.
I reinstalled the old wads, tried both above ways, and got same results.
I then deleted all wads, tr4 files except catacomb.
Then I loaded txt, objects and then prj. Back to the old inventory, I then saved prj again, and now it loads as before.
I reinstalled the updated wads, and checked prj, and its back to normal.
Now for the questions, is there an easier way to disassociate the object file from a prj file??
And, do levels run into many bugs if you mix and match texture and object files. Say the texture file from a level in TR1 and objects from TR3 and save it over an existing TRLE tom file?
TIA

Well, the short way would have been loading the catacomb.WAS from the top bar menu (under OBJECTS), and then saving the project over the old .prj file. Next time you open it, the project will be automatically associated with the new .WAS file.

Basically, you can use any object wad (if it works) and any texture file (provided it has the right format). If you have a working TR3 wad (say, "london"), you need to create a corresponding .TOM file named london.TOM. If you save over any other .TOM file, you will have the objects of that wad in your level, but not those of your london wad. You will have floating butts and legs all over the place, and most likely the level will crash sooner or later.

(You create a .TOM file by selecting 'output wad' from the top bar menu under PROJECT and then typing 'london' into the file name field, which should be empty. Of course, you'll have to save it to the \graphics\wads directory).

Was that clear in any way??
