I'm not really bothered as to what type as long as it's original. But I hate Egyptian levels!!!!If a level looks good and sounds good I'll try it IP: Logged |

I like them all except levels that are too dark. I hate having to use a flare/flashlight, too easy to miss stuff. Or ones with way too many psychedelic colors. I prefer gameplay over looks, as long as it isn't way too hard either. Egyptian levels rule....IP: Logged |

I think Egyptian levels are the best. I say it beacause I really like them and the whole "Tomb Raider" game is based on the journeys around and in Egypt. That's exactly where Lara is raiding. She wouldn't be Lara Croft the Tomb Raider if there were no Egypt with tombs. So, first of all I like levels which look real, with a lot of riddles and puzzles, not very long and not too dark otherwise you can't value the whole beauty of the level just because of the darkness (and flares give a different picture, you just see what there is but not how there is). Also, the level must have good music (not any but which would match the atmosphere) and sound effects which is very important - this detail gives the impression of the level. A little of unexpectancy would be very cool and reminding. Of course, the level has to be well textured - otherwise that spoils the whole impression in a single moment and it has to have some sense finally... These are the main aspects and basics in level building to my mind...------------------ Oleg IP: Logged |

I love levels like like the VCI levels in TRC and the Area51 levels in TR3, I also LOVE jungle levels, but I'm not holding to those only, I don't like Egypt levels much, but that doesn't mean I don't play them. The level Scarabirynth is an excelent Egypt type level, it inspired me to make my own level with cleopal.wadAnd I think others shouldn't just play one type levels too, who knows, you might miss an excelent level this way! Levels that bring back the original spirit of Tomb Raider - that is, Egyptian, Peruvian, Grecian and (original) Atlantean. IP: Logged |

I agree with Firewire, I hate dark levels - what's the point of playing a game when you can't see most of it? I also hate the office levels like the last levels in Chronicles - sterile and cold, no atmosphere. And it's called TOMB raider, not OFFICE raider - you couldn't get further apart if you tried. The best levels are those set in places where supposedly no-one has set foot for years until Lara comes along to explore. In TR1 you really get this feeling especially the Palace Midas level, atmospheric ancient ruins with just wild animals running around. In TR4 Von Croy said something like "our footfalls are the first in this place for centuries". In TR1 you did not need someone to say that, you felt it. So yes I would like a Vilacamba/Lost Valley level, anything that recapures the spirit of TR1 would be great. IP: Logged |

OK I wanna see some film conversion leves, stargate, startreck, spacey-ones, I want to see big castles, a huge mental intitute ( either terminator 2 or batmans Arkham Asilum ) heck make laras legs and arms invisible and make a rayman lara , just be inventive and use other films games etc as inspiration.Micro Machines inspired me for Laras Toy Story, what inspires you were would you want to explore what countries would you like to go to etc I want depth and atmosphere , and NO MORE PYRAMIDS !!!! ------------------ Currently Working On; Lara's Toy Story Often in the Chatbox / AOL Instant Messenger Name is : GoTenchiZ , MSN ; Gokuz99@hotmail.com IP: Logged |

Just something original; don't try to "recapture" Atlantis, Egypt, Peru or whatever. An Aztec level would be great. GokuZ said "No more pyramids" but I thnk he was refering exclusively to Egyptian pyramids. I doubt he dislikes the shape itself . I'd like to see those cool Aztec step pyramids with the engravings and all.More specifically, I like levels where you have to collect several of the same artifact. Like the prayer wheels in Barkhang (TR2) or the keys in Francis' folly (TR1). But it's better to have clearly seperate sections of the level, each with one of the items. If I'm not making sense, here's what i mean (applied to the Aztec scenario): Lara starts in a courtyard/ town square with a huge temple in the middle. She needs four keys to open the door to the temple. There are four smaller pyramids around (on the north, south, east and west of the courtyard). Lara enters each one in turn (the player can choose what order to take them in) and slogs through a series of traps and puzzles to get to a key at the heart of each pyramid and return to the central square by a different route (you wouldn't want to have to play the same bit twice). Apart from that, just make it BIG. Giant, epic temples, buildings etc. Use custom objects and textures as much as possible to give the player something new. Is that enough? IP: Logged |
