Since i am making 4 more levels - sequil to the Forgotten City of Sanus Part I, i realised i needed 4 quest items.


So i searched some tr2 wads and found 3 key holes and a puzzle hole.

I replaced the id's since if you extract a wad from tombraider 2 the id's are mixed, i used trwest to replace 3 key items into id slots

Key_item9
Key_item10
Key_item11
Puzzle_Item12

Ofcourse i also added

Key_Hole9
Key_Hole10
Key_Hole11
Puzzle_Hole12
Puzzle_Done12


Then i happy renamed the script file but i got problems. When i pick up the keys ingame they are named as "load" "save" instead of Sun key or something I had this also with another puzzle item but i dont know how i fixed it. Anyone know how to fix it ?

You CANNOT ADD OR DELETE LINES IN ENGLISH.TXT!!!!!
You can only change the text on a line.
And what you type in english.txt MUST BE EXACTLY what you type in script.txt.

I am sorry, but i think you didnt read my post carefully.


I get Load and save name FOR EACH Object i added, All other objects have still there own name, only these 4 objects dont have proper name.

anyway i figured out myself. I just have to copy the excact line from

Key=10,Sunkey, $XXXX$ and so on parameters
then had to copy it 3 times and rename the
Key=10 into 9 and 11 so i have 9-10 and 11

and for the puzzle item 12 i just renamed the black beetle.

well since i fixed the problem with the script i have another problem.

Level 4 - Sun Temple of RA i picked up my Sun key, then entered the door which finishes the part I of my set, then i jump to part II level set ---> level 5 Jungle
Ruins, i was happy to see i had my sun key, The sunkey from Sun Temple is the normal Key_item 10

The sunkey from jungle ruins is a total different key, i extracted it from a Tr2 level and replaced it with key item 10 so this key looks bigger and better.

Problem is, after i jump the level from Jungle ruins the key Dissapears from my inventory.

I am getting frustraded by this, can anyone help me.

Ow and btw, DONT tell me to check my wads if the key_item are IN my wad, Cause they are IN my wad, i double checked them.

That's propably the problem that the key from the 1st level is different from the 2nd level. I'm not sure of this and not a big help, but I think that the keys must be the same.

I still dissapears from inventory -

When i Jump from

Sun Temple ( Forgotten City of Sanus I level 4 )

to

Jungle Ruins ( Forgotten City of Sanus II level 5 )


The key is in my inventory, BUT when i move on and jump from

Jungle Ruins ( Forgotten City of Sanus II level 5)

to

Sacred Valley of Ukanimba ( Forgotten City of Sanus II level 6


Then i dissapears ! I dont know why this happens... Help !

Hold on a sec, you never said anything about level 6! Check if the SAME key is in the level's wad too!
And can't you find a use for it in level 5 or must it be, come what may, in level 6 too?

Yasin it's becoming very complicated. I can give a few tips.

You can only rename names and not add. If you use key's rename the key names.

It is not possible to have different names for one object in other levels. Make sure the key you use in an other level it must also be in that wad or it will dissapear from your inventory.

This counts for all objects. If you add a puzzle item in an other puzzle-slot you must use the same number before the strings. So if you add a puzzle item in slot 6 then the string information must begin with puzzle 6 for that item.

The Keys are Quest items, They are used in level 13 ( Forgotten City ) Where lara puts the 4 keys in their holes and the city will be revealed.

So they are Quest items, you carry them the entire project.

Level 4 you get Sun key
Level 8 you get Earth Key
Level 12 you get Moon key
Level 13 you get Element Circle ( a puzzle item )
Level 14 you use all 4 keys.

Key item 9-10-11

Puzzle item 12 is no problem ,thats a renamed black beetle

BUT No wait, Key_item10 can also be found in Coastel wad, i used the string of that key for the script.

And btw i did add in every wad my keys...

Well what you know !! Now i discovered something else...

I put all 4 quest items in Sun Temple of RA, all 3 keys and Element Circle.

Then i used level jumping cheat Guess what happened.


Jump to Level 5 - Keys are in inventory
Jump to level 6 ( KEYS ARE GONE

This is the sacred valley of Ukanimba,

So i manually put the element keys in Sacred Valley of Ukanimba,

Outputted the wad, then loaded Sacred Valley of Ukanimba, I picked up all 4 keys, THEN i used cheat again to jump to

Level 7 And THE KEYS ARE IN MY INVENTORY

????????????????????????????????????????
???????????????????????????????????????
???????????????????????????????????????

Indeed, then i did the following thing,

Copied Level 5 wad series and renamed them
into Sacret series. Then i added the needed
enemies and blabla with Trwest, then retested but stil ldoesnt works

I think there is a kind of hard coded error going on here.

I am forced to do the following this.

Put the Key Manually in the level, this might look stupid, since you pickup te key from Sun Temple and you play it all the way trough Jungle Ruins then you have to pick up the key again. I am forced to do this, It is the only solution

So i hope the people out there have respect that they should pickup the key again, how stupid it looks sorry, i have to. I will put the key right in front of lara when you start in Sacred Valley.

Don't get if I ask this to you, but are the script lines for the keys in all levels?

If they are, why don't you add a false key, where it should orriginally be and the real key later, like if someone stole it and you can get it from him(propably him, coz there aren't any women enemies in the wads, ) later. Why to do it the boring way? You get there, pick up what's supposed to be there and go further. Give your players an unexpected surprise!

There aint a rival of Lara, not someone who wants to also get his hands on the keys. Now if we had cutscenes, i could make lara fall from a place then she dropps the key and a baboon steals it, like it in tr3 where that baboon takes the key and runs away, But i we cant make cutscenes yet.

I think i have to do it this way...

ps--- the keys strings are in each level... The script is fine it just happens in this level

You dont have to look for each string for each object. String information is only needed for the rotation in the inventory screen. So this means that you can use one string for all your key's. Ofcourse you should keep the original string for an object if you have one.

Do you have all puzzle items in the same slot in each wad? Because that's really importent. If not then you get a strange object instead of the right one after levelloading. A script line that is not right will cause an object name to "load". If they are only dissapearing with leveljumping-cheat then i would not bother. It's a perfect way to make your level non-cheating

I did putted the keys in the right same slots in each wad...


And even if you jump the level fairly by finishing it then even this way it dissapears.

If you read the manual, it does say that jumping between certain levels can cause your inventory to disappear. It might be in the limited script we were given, but it could also be hard-coded in tomb4. You might have to use different wads.

Well nm about it now, The problem is fixed. Dont ask me how, i didnt do anything, But when my older sister was testing Jungle Ruins she had the key in level 6 i was so suprized by it.

I dont know HOW she did it or what she did, maby i did something or didnt. Anyway its fixed and the game story is logical,

This can only mean 1 thing, and i think piega's conclusion is right

Cheating makes the key dissapear and finishing it the fair way doesnt makes your key dissapear. Lol

Yes, I wont release the levels untill their fully tested, i dont want the same frustrating happening again with my Part I levels...
