Couldn't be bothered trying to work out what the problem is myself, I'm too tired and p*ssed off with events in real life. All I know is that the editor crashes everytime I try to start it up - the window goes black, then the entire screen goes black, then back to the black window and a message saying something's wrong. Clicking OK just returns to desktop. Reinstalling won't make a difference and I'm on XP.Help? [This message has been edited by the_last_frustration (edited 02-13-2002).] IP: Logged |

Was XP an upgrade? and what video card do you have? Also the exact error message would help.Something you can try in the meantime. A handy hidden tool is the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. To start this utility, simply click Start, Run, "dxdiag" without the quotes. The tool has several tabs that check for problems, display detailed information, and offer diagnostic tests for several components, such as display, sound etc. [This message has been edited by Data (edited 02-13-2002).] IP: Logged |

I'm currently running Win XP Pro and have no problems with RoomEdit.. However I happen to know for a fact XP has 32Bit graphics set to default when it's installed. So that may be the problem, Check and make sure.. Because 16Bit color is the only thing RoomEdit will work on.------------------ IP: Logged |

Funny, I'm running ME and I always have my computer in 32-bit color (it is now, I just checked). Yet the LE works fine (it's running at the moment). But I do remember the manual saying that it had to be in 16-bit color or it wouldn't work... IP: Logged |

Well that's the thing.. Certain video cards will allow LE to run a little un-stable under 32bit color. Most people who run LE like this don't notice it though, And I guess they are lucky. However for most people anything above 16Bit will cause the Editor to freak out! What the_last_frustration said sounds very much like what LE does when it's above 16Bit colors. Anyway, I hope you get it fixed.------------------ IP: Logged |

It was previously on 24-bit, changing it to 16-bit seems to have done the trick. It's funny though, I could have sworn it worked earlier...IP: Logged |

Well I thought that was the problem.. Oh and yeah 24Bit is what XP will set your Video mode to if you don't support 32Bit. Or if you changed around your XP Theme, No matter what though you need to be on 16Bit. ^_^IP: Logged |
