Here is a project analyser for TRLE users.
It will open your .prj file and tell you everything about rooms, objects and triggers. (Which one triggers which one, and which one is triggered by which one).

This program was made possible thanks to Aktrekker, who published the format of the project file.
This program can be downloaded at http://alainlecomte.free.fr/TR_Prj.zip (209 Ko)
Please let me know of any bug.

Thank you.

I have a question however; does this application automatically assume that the Tombraider Level editor folder is on the C: drive?

It is a stand-alone program. It does not care at all about the Tombraider Level editor folder : It will open your .PRJ file, wherever it is. (C:, D:, or floppy drive).

Exactly my thoughts.. What use could this have?
I mean.. Can it be used to quickly edit OCB's without going in the Editor?
Or can it fix broken PRJ's allowing you to Delete Objects?
Because otherwise I personally can't see why anyone would want to use this..
No offense! I mean it's neat but still..

I start to write this program because I was stuck in a level designed by somebody else. (I could not find where was hidden the trigger to open a specific door). I therefore used TR2PRJ.exe (made by Aktrekker) to get the project file, and opened this project file in TRLE, in order to find where was this hidden trigger. Unfortunatly, when an object is driven by several triggers (standard, key, CD, antitrigger…) TRLE will indicate only the first one, which was not the interesting one in my case.
My program will tell you where is the 2nd and 3rd trigger.

In the same level, I spent a lot of time looking for the key matching a puzzle hole, to finally discovered that there was no key in the game (either forgotten by the designer, or useless puzzle hole) : With my program you can verify that at once.

Besides, for you own levels, this application will provide a short and clear summary, which can be valuable when you have hundreds of rooms, objects and triggers.

This could be done easely in a version 2.
For the purpose to fix a broken PRJ, TRFix.exe already exist.

Very good thought but there a few things you should know,

Using tr2prj can give problems, like you cant see textures, this leads mostly confusion parts of the game, only huge areas can be noticed in shape.

Tr2prj doesnt converts the floor and ceiling the right way, the room walls are more stretched and often you see holes everywhere

By using this tool you will thus cheat, you moderate the person who actually made a level, i dont know how much he worked on it, and you simply change or delete something which will allow you to continue gameplay, this is cheating, no offence but i think its a shame if someone builds so hard on his levels and just because a person cant find a lever or a trigger you have to cheat. Mostly you can ask for help in forums like "i am stuck" and if the problem is a bug then the autor should fix it

Know what i mean ?

The best you mentioned about "finding the 2nd and 3rd trigger" can also be found in the editor, you just select in top view window ( upper left room view map ) the trigger and it will automatically tell which trigger it belongs to, like door_432.

If it could read ocb codes it woulda been great

Think about it, A good program but some effects can be nasty.

Everyone seems to be bashing this guy. Why?

The program must serve some purpose otherwise the programmer would have never programmed it. I like the sound of it, being able to see what triggers are in my level.

As for a version 2 it would be very useful to add a delete capability. As everyone should know you cant delete all triggers using the Room Editor.

I know the current limitations of tr2prj, and I use it only to get the list of rooms, objects and triggers : I do not modify and re-use the PRJ file produced by tr2prj.

1- I do not “ change or delete something” since my program is “read only”.

2- In a way, yes, its is cheating, but are you telling me that nobody uses TRposEditor.exe?

3- Think positive : This tools will help any level designer to clean-up his level before publication : For instance no more doors with a forgotten trigger…which is an easy mistake to do in a large level!

Do the following :
1- Open Karnak.prj in TRLE
2- Go to room 64
3- Select “DOOR TYPE 3 (108)”
4- Push the button “Object to Trigger”
5- TRLE will bring you to room 60, where is a first trigger for that door.
6- Now, tell me how you find with TRLE that this door is also under control of a 2nd trigger in room 39, and of a third trigger in room 102?

No one was bashing him.. It's a nice program i'm sure.
But unless it can actually do something different than what we can already do..
Then I don't see a point, Oh and TRFix isn't exactly the greatest program in the world.
Being able to manually edit the contents of a Broken PRJ would be much more useful, Thus why I asked.

I need someone to search for rooms without lights. Sometimes I forgot to place a light and it takes long to see it.

This was an easy updating: TR_Prj.exe Version 1.1 will now tell you how many lights are in each room of your project. Have a look to the most right column of the upper table.
This will count only the LIGHTS. If you want me to count also the SUNS and the SPOTS, let me know. http://alainlecomte.free.fr/TR_Prj.zip

Thanks for your nice words Oleg.
I got Aktrekker’document from http://www.geocities.com/cyber_delphi/articles/trproject.doc
It is in fact a MS-Word doc file, 45 pages long. I am asking myself how many hours Aktrekker had to invest in order to discover all the secrets of the PRJ file : A great work!

When you have 150 rooms to make sure you added lights to this is certainly helpful
Coincidently this is exactly what I need to do now
