How many here bought Core's PROJECT EDEN?
I just got it on import in Tokyo.

I was waiting for it because basically it was created using an upgraded version of the TR4/5 Level editor.
It is really TR the next generation. 2002 anyway.
You will notice it is the same engine as TR
but far improved upon. (in some places there is the same graphic error that also is in Tr4)

I think the main added elements, are the new graphics FX (fire, rain, smoke etc).
Metallic shine (very cool), greater graphics redraw (the distancing graphic error in TRLE sucks BAD!)

And far more complex objects. Which is the biggest difference, making the game similar to HALFLIFE, although the graphic redraw on Halflife is still better (no gaps).

My biggest worry with all this technology is the great atmosphere that is in TR1,2 & 3
is being killed off with something very sterile.
Although the DEATH-HEAD HQ in Project Eden has a great eerie atmosphere and that is also down to the sound FX creator who did TR1,2,3.

My only hope is that fellow designers won't forget that sound and atmosphere are as almost as important as the game itself.

TR1 on the Playstation still spooks me out.
More than these new flash technology games.
Someone also mentioned this point on these forums...

I also prefer the TR view angle to the Halflife & Doom view angle. (which you can switch in Project Eden)
I think with TR you get a more personal feel
or tactile atmosphere. Especially using the vibra-shock on the playstation controller.
I feel disjointed in games like Unreal/Quake etc.

so what do others think!?!?

I love FPS. I feel more personal with them. Its as if i'm actually there. I have not played Project Eden. But games like Serious Sam, GoldenEye for the 64, Ghost Recon for PC Deus Ex for Pc are all very involving games. Serious Sam maybe not as much, but it's still an amazing game. I loved tomb raider because i love adventure games and this is the ultimate one. Women, archeology. what more do you need. I love that whole indiana jones feel. Same feeling I get being Bond in Goldeneye. Max Payne is another amazing 3rd person shooter I think you might like. Except it's more John Woo action style. Really great atmosphere though.

So there really isn't a 3P/1P toggle in Ghost Recon? I got the demo and noticed that (also there is no turn right/turn left, just side-step), and hoped it was put back in in the actual game.
