Upload zip files on geocities? I'm new to site/download making and wanted to ask this. Plz reply as fast as you can. I'm trying the upload files and images and trying to ulpoad a 2MB zip file. If someone can tell me how to do this correct, plz do it!
I don't know where else to upload my level.
Of course someone could give me helping hand and do it, I would really appreciate it. I wont be around here about this time now, and I might reply tommorow. IP: Logged |

eTux, you could use our good-old times.lv service. They give 10MB of free web space. You can do whatever you want with it, but!...You have to have at least some premitive web site + their banner on it. I frankly don't know anything about geocities. Having registered on times.lv all you will have to do is enter a password and you will have access to your 10MB as if on your local drive. You simply copy your files there and that's it - the files are uploaded!  I hope this helps...------------------

I don't know, times.lv isn't loading for me, for any reason...I know people have done this on geocties so could someone plz help? Or I might try times.lv when it loads at last... IP: Logged |

I wouldn't recomend Yahoo/Geocities for this!1st, Yahoo does not allow linking to non-yahoo sites, and your's will be deleted! 2nd. Yahoo does not allow linking to images, so you will not be able to post screnshots and such without everyone having to copy the url into the address bar. 3rd. Yahoo briefcase will take files around 2mb, but in order for people to get them, they also have to have a briefcase account. However, since the price is right(free), angelfire still offers 20-50 mb of free space (not sure exactly, since one of mine has 50 and the other 20. and uploading files is a breeze. BUT! still the problem with image hosting. I use an MSN communities page to host mine, since they aren't so fussy about that, but are worse about everything else! GOOD LUCK!  ------------------

Angelfire isn't bad, it's just that when I paste the download link to my browser, the explorer finds the download and starts downloading, but after a few times, it shows, that there is no such file(and after another time of doing that, they say angelfire put my 'site' down, lol ) I really haven't done somethin' like this before and it's quite confusing for me, so I'd appreaciate help of angelfire users. I'm not attempting to build a site, I just want to upload those files, so the level can be released at last! I think I know how to do what I want, but what's the use if 2 or 3 people can download the level!(or is it 3 downloads per person?  )IP: Logged |
