I have a level im working on that has 47 rooms. When I convert the wad I see that it has 14 texture pages and 37 room tex info.
There is only 18 objects and 27 triggers.
The problem I am having is in the last room.
I have narrowed it down to be, well this is gonna sound stupid, but it seems when I raise the floor in any spot of the room the game crashes when I load the level.

If I go and lower the floor back to normal, then the level loads fine. There are no rooms above or below this room, and I have tried it with textures and with out. I am able to create walls and raise the ceiling with out the level crashing. I dont have to enter the room for it to crash. It crashes as soon as the level loads.

Can somebody tell me what the heck is this crap?

it could possibly be the 'height' of your room might be too low..

No, I thought of that and checked it many times. But I have done more test.
The room I was having the problems with was room 47, which connects from room 46.
There are no rooms above or below room 47, but there is a room above 46, and a water room below room 46. Just out of curiousity I deleted the water room below room 46. I tested it, and everything was ok.

So I had no more problems with room 47, but I did now have a empty room slot (room 25)
I didnt want that so I deleted room 47, and selected room 25. I redone the whole room, tested it, and the problem was back.

I then went and copied room 25 which produced room 47 again, and tested it this way. Still the problem was there. So I went and deleted room 25 (again) and kept room 47 which is now a clone, and everything is fine again.

So is it possible to have a curupted room slot? I will have to do a few more test to conclude that this is the problem, but right now it is def pointing at the slot for room 25. Im not getting any prj error messages, so what is going on?

Well...I created a new room (48) and guess what the problem is back. So I guess its not roomslot 25 after all. But now its as if the editor isnt allowing my project to exceed 47 rooms. Right now I have 48 rooms-room 25=47.
So I am right back where I started from with a total of 47 rooms, and unable to add more.
Is there anybody out there who can help me with this? What is up? I cant figure this out.

Do you have many big rooms. If you go over 75000000 in the alloc file buffer then your level crashes. I had similar problems. Could be a big wad. Dont think about corrupted room slots because this is not the problem. Because you use 47 rooms it does not mean that you can use them all 20 by 20 squares. It is not how many but the size that counts.

Thanks for the tip, but alloc file buffer is only at 6559844. And I do have a few big rooms but they are spread far apart in the level, if that makes a different.

Two 17x17 rooms in one area.
Two 16x10 rooms in a second area.
Two 8x16 rooms in a third area.
Three 16x16 in one more area.

So what can I do to trouble shoot the problem further? What if I split some of the larger rooms? What did you end up doing to fix your problem? help me out cause right now I cant do anything with it.

i had the same problem, i couldnt make room 76! so i cut down on the size of the rooms at that worked, also if i add one room and dont resize it to a smaller size then it crashes as i am not allowed any more full size rooms in my level i'm currently making, so i would try to cut down on the size of the rooms and dont make any 18x18 ones

sounds like one of those invisible bugs.
The ones that live in the mapping and you can't see them. Corrupted map structures.

Weird things can happen with flipmaps, strange objects, lights.

The way the walls are split into sections,
and some disappear off into the heavens - and without any numbers connected to them
you can't tell what position they are allocated to.
To me it sounds like your error isn't in the room you are playing with but another one.
The room you are playing with is interfering with its bad format....?

MIRAI

ps. its possible to create some really bad mapping structures (especially with flipmaps) and still will go unnoticed in a game.
But of course will cause errors elsewhere.

So what if I went and split my biggest rooms into two or three depending on the size?
