There were plenty of rumours about, saying there would be a level editor with the new Tombraider game, but i've just received an email from Core Design on the subject and this was their answer.

"Hi, we never actually supported the level editor for Tomb Raider chronicles and as of yet there aren't any plans to add such a thing to the new game. Sorry for any disappointment caused.
Gary"

But hopefully that will change at some point.

Im sick of all the dissatisfation with TRLE, we should be glad we have this one and that weve been alowed to do what we have already done. They arnt going to release anymore TRLE, im frankly suprised that we have this one , we have been given the privalage to create TR Games I belive they did because TR is obsolete comared to Next Gen.

And dhama you should know that all life is suffering

Idiots, Core need to do everything they can to win back fans, not including the LE is just suicide.

Actually, im not surprised. Core has put a lot of work into TR:AOD and promoting and advertising it, that they just don't have time to include and advertise another Level Editor. But it could boost their sales, i bought TRC just for the TRLE not the game.

exactly, barely any games released now don't have LEs, and with the amount of good reception its had and a 2 year well overlonged lifetime, they should realize that releasing the LE for TR4 was a good* thing to do. And no matter what they say, it doesn't take that* long to make an in-house tool like an LE useable to the public, and they could always release it after they have got the main game in the shops

They are not idiots, they are not even remotely stupid! They arent releasing a new editor because (as I read) it uses an expensive program (i think its Maya) and to include that and distribute it would be suicide to their profits.

As Dhama's email said, they never supported it *cough lack of updates for it cough*

I know, 't wasn't exactly directed to you personally, but to the people who keep complaining about the limitations and the lack of new objects etc...

Kiopo, love the sig but how about posting it just once in every thread?

To tell you the truth, I was not expecting any LE for TR AOD right now. It´s just too soon.

We´ve waited almost 5 years to get our hands on this one. They did it just because the engine is obsolete now, and of course to keep us busy until TR AOD comes out. So why wait for a brand new one if the game itself was not released yet?

But stay cool. It will come when its time...

But I´m sad anyway!

Perhaps a level editor for another TR but not TR6, it would be slightly hard to run on most of our systems. Not to mention difficult to use.

They aren't including a LE because like I read earlier, you have to have Maya. I SERIOUSLY doubt that most people have the extra money to dish out for Maya. It's a very very expensive program. Around $16,000 if I'm not mistaken. But it's worth every penny, I downloaded the free version of it, Maya PLE (personal learning edition). It does everything that the full version does, except for a few things. Like it puts a watermark over the image, you can't swap files with the full version, etc. The things that Maya does is amazing, but don't bother going to their website to download it unless you have Windows NT, 2000, XP, or Mac OS X cause it wont work sorry. Also, you might want to download it with a download manager that can resume downloads because the file is about 136 MB. Anyway here is a URL for those who are feeling adventurous enough to download it and try it out http://www.aliaswavefront.com/en/Home/homepage.shtml

SWEETNESS!! I just went to the Alias|Wavefront website, as of yesterday... they dropped the price of Maya like WHOA... I said it was about $16,000. Well, now its only $1,999... I can't believe it, who knows, maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel for a AOD LE?
