ok, I'm finally gonna start on my Maria Doria restoration project, but I'm not sure how to start. Do I keep switching between TR2 and the editor or do I use TR2prj to extract the original level and change all the rooms so they are the right way up, or does someone have a better way to do it?

I'm not sure exactly how other people have done remakes....you could rebuild from scratch, maybe as you said ,by opening the original level in TR2PRJ and having the editor open and noting the room dimension and rebuilding them.....sounds pretty complicated.

Probably easier to open the original level with TR2PRJ,then save it and open it in the editor....you will then have do do the texturing and placing of objects and triggers because TR2PRJ doesn't do this.

With regards to the rooms being the right way up,you won't have to worry about that, 'cos when you export the project from TR2RRJ into the editor ,the rooms will already be the right way....upside down if they're meant to be or not.....hope that makes sense.

Good luck if you go ahead with it

Normally I would just use TR2prj but I want to restore it. as in make the ship so it is the right way up (instead of being upside down as in TR2)

speaking of tr2prj, is it supposed to work w/tr3? i want to restore like jungle or temple ruins, hopefully its creator aktrekker is working on a textured prj? this will save you DAYS, craziej2k, so maybe you should ask trekker if one is in progress b4 you retexture all of that level (its big, isnt it?)

Cronicles2, TR2prj already does work on TR3.

I guess I wasn't clear in explaining what I hoped to do, In TR2 The Maria Doria is sunk upside down, I want to make the Maria Doria upright ie. floating on the water as good as new,I've got most of the textures cleaned up and ready but I wasn't sure how to start.
Sos for not explaining it well

craziej2k: My suggestion is to use RoomViewer to look at the rooms and build the "restored" version from scratch. You could also use TRItem, which would also show you where each object is placed. I used both when re-creating "The Caves" and "The City of Vilcabamba" and found it easier than switching in and out of the game.

Errr... Best to e-mail Turbo on that one. Or posting a message on the Unofficial Editor forum may be quicker (http://pub19.ezboard.com/ftreditingzonefrm2). I haven't had that problem, so can't help there.

What about TRItem? Does that one work? If so, you could just use it. Even though it only shows one room at a time, it's better than nothing. At least you'd have something to go by rather than trying to figure it all out in-game. Trust me, that way is alot harder than it seems .

When saving a TR3 PRJ file:

"TR2Prj MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

"If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost."

"For more information about this error, click here"
---------------------------------------------
Error signature==============================
AppName:tr2prj.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1
Modname:tr2prj.exe Offset:00005e6e
---------------------------------------------
"To view technical information about the error report, click here"

And I don't feel like multiplying the size of the page by 77.6, so I wont list the next 8,000,000,000 numbers included in the error report. apparently i have version 1.0.0.1, is that the newest?

Chronicles2: TR2prj has problems with TR3 levels. aktrekker doesn't have TR3 PC and couldn't fully test it on those levels. Some levels will convert and some won't. Evedintly, this is one that won't....
