I have the old TR1 underwater switch in my wad but I can't get it to make any sound. I have found the Underwater switch line in the sounds text file and put the #g at the end to assign it to all wads (that's right yes?) like this:- UNDERWATER_SWITCH: w_swt VOL70 P #g I've run both the pcwadsfx and sfxexample and still there is no clunk from the underwater switch. Help!! IP: Logged |

Use wadmerger to copy it and the sounds should work (but maybe there is a bug there). Don't use trwest and the sound script from trle cause these programs never heard of sounds other then tr4 and might overwrite them.IP: Logged |

The line is correct in your sounds .txt.When you ran pcwadsfx did you copy the SAM and SFX files that it created into wads folder? If you didn't these will be in the sounds/levelsfx creator folder. IP: Logged |

Um - no - but I can't see them in the sounds/levelsfx creator folder - there's just pcdwadsfx, sfx example and sounds. Sorry TRWad, thanks for replying, but I haven't quite got the hang of Wadmerger yet - I'm still trying to set up the first page "skin" things!! But what is the "sound script"? when you run pcwadsfx it creates new SFX and SAM files in the level sfx folder....which wad are you using...is it a custom wad? When you use pcwadsfx you have to add the letter for you wad...for example Karak wad has the letter d. So the line for creating the new sound files for karnak in pcwadsfx would be as follows: pcwadsfx karnak d sounds.txt If you're using a custom wad use the letter X , so the line would be:
pcwadsfx 'yourwad' x sounds.txt This all has to be done using the DOS prompt....if you're not sure about that ,have a look at the manual page 101 about the DOS commands for running pcwadsfx. hope that helps

Hi Skibsy - thanks for all your help but I think I'm going to be cowardly and give up on this - the last time I dabbled with DOS my PC threw a wobbly ! I think I'll go for the pull down lever from the Lake wad instead - I can usually get that to work, probably because it's from TR4 anyway. Anyway thanks again. IP: Logged |
