Phabius, that is good advice, that's what I'm doing at the moment, since I'm a beginner. A lot of playing with the tutorial level as well as reading the manual, and reading in here As well as experimenting with Srpix and TRWest, I added a Stargate to tut1 hehe and my triggers worked, woohoo! *does a little dance*screenshot of the Stargate, if anyone's interested:- http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/icebluethunder/lst?.dir=/TRLE+Screenshots&.src=ph&.last=1

thanks Using TRWest, I added door_type 8 to tut1 wad, then extracted the bmp textures using strpix, retextured (with a paint program) them to look like the stargate, reimported them and voila! It's still rough around the edges (doesn't help being a typical Virgo, having to be a perfectionist even at beginner level *rolls eyes*) Ooh I've had a brainfart....maybe experienced level creaters could be beta testers for newbies who've created their first levels ie play it, then give constructive criticism, tips etc [This message has been edited by litepulsar (edited 04-22-2002).] IP: Logged |

My first level was, I believe it was Area 56. I was planning to let the guard walk to the gate and let him opening the, instead of ythat Lara walked to the gate and did some wierd dances and died. I don't know why. Then the guard came and just didn't moved. The lights didn't worked and I was soooooo happy when I got the motorbike. Now after that I was trying the experimentate with Trwest, All my wad got screwed up. I'm just brilliant, than I just found out how to make cd sounds. How the story ends??? You don't wish to know.IP: Logged |

Hey Yasin and everyone!Soon I´ll be finishing my FIRST complete project with 3 levels. "The Escape" (that´s my third level) is doing very well, even I´m not working a lot on it due to the trip. I´m going to play in Spain next saturday. I just need some ideas for traps using most objects from the Karnak WAD... I´m having a "writer´s block" here. Maybe it´s my brain, which is full of information with all the songs and stuff... Well Lara has the Asphaeings Amulet now and she returns to the surface from the buried Temple of Azzivullas. She´s back in City of Blezqi Zatsaz and now she must escape to the desert... Maybe I´ll add a motorbike ride at the end, if it´s safe to add this object to my WAD (I have 2500 texture infos by now). The level is about 60% done, from what I expect it to be... Oh... About my last posts in this topic... Yes it´s also a good idea to have TR2PRJ, TRViewer and all other tools for opening and analysing the original projects, from the original CDs. It gives you cool ideas for room shapes and also shows how rooms are connected to give a certain effect. If you´re having trouble modeling your rooms, that could be a way to start and build beautiful places right away. Then of course you must use your skills and imagiantion to improve over what you´ve seen and learned. So customize your rooms. Follow all the manual section on modeling rooms and play around A LOT! Usually the first rooms you build tend to be square and blocky. So avoid that. Try dome ceilings and stepped floors. Use arches. Play with the arrows! In organic rooms, use triangular surfaces and random floor and smooth floor... Ooops I had an idea and I´ll go back to my project! IP: Logged |
