I checked my 'compass theory' and it worked!
Once you delete the compass item from your wad, you can't use those North-Cheats anymore!!! The only thing is that there's a big Lara's butt in the screen of which I can't get rid off :P, so any help with this problem is appreciated too. I guess I'm not the first one who finds this out, since I saw that there's no compass (and no butt!!) in Harly Wuson's "The lost Acropolis", and when I found out that I can't cheat in that level I wanted to find this out for myself. But I just wanted to post this and tell everyone, coz' I'm sure not everyone knows this. So if you don't want players to be able to use the North-Cheats in your level/game, delete the compass straight away .(Harly if you read this, could you plz tell how you got rid of that butt in the inventory?)

I guess he just deleted the COMPASS_OBJECT from his was with trwest. Maybe the butt problem can be avoided by replacing the compass (instead of deleting it) with an object thats virtually invisible because of it's size or just replace it with any object you like and add the transparent texture (with stripx for example).

If you deleted the Compass. Couldn't someone just add compass_obj from TRwest?

Weelll, if someone does that I can think of it only as disrespect to the authors' work. If the author has removed the compass from his level, will you add it just to be able to use the cheats? If the author thinks he doesn't need an item like that, it's not very nice for aplayer to make things easier, by adding one. I don't think that's the best way to play a level, and besides if the level's in a TR4 format, theres nothing much you can do about that, now is it?

No offence to you, but I'm sure you'll agree that that isn't the best way of 'playing' a level.

@Chronicles2 - Seven's right. I deleted the Compass object from the wad with TRWest.

@GokuZ - thx, got the dfx, going to try if this works now

There is always DOZY.
Personally I think it should be up to the player. Most won't cheat. But if someone isn't as good a player, why rob them of the experience of the entire level?

You got a point there, but most of the authors are glad to help out, and if not the author himself/herself will help, there'll always be a nice person who helps you out.

Won't this go easier by loading the wad in wadmerger, select the compass and click 'Empty'?

Sorry eTux I didn't mean to cramp ur style. I only use the fly cheat to see the structure and textures of the level. If some uses cheat codes they miss in on the real feel of tomb raider, it gets boring if I use cheats.
