Nope, I'm still alive and kicking. I lost interest for some time, and had just gotten back into it when my dad gave me a new Sony Vaio computer complete with WinXP. Unfortunately, he sold my old one and now I'm using this one, which for some reason cannot run RoomEdit.[This message has been edited by Bullet ridden monkey (edited 04-22-2002).] IP: Logged |

Trash XP, reload Win98 or Win2K. Windows just keeps getting worse for anything but web browsing and IM.

I'm using the editor with XP, without a patch and it works....i don't think there is a patch.Have you tried the copatibilty mode though? Go into the TRLE directory and right click the winroomedit.exe and under properties go to the compatibilty tab and select windows 98. It should work without any tinkering though, so maybe the problem is something else. IP: Logged |

1. My dad has this thing about new OS software, once it's installed you never take it out.2. Yeah, I've tried compatability, it still doesn't work. Whenever I load the RoomEdit, all I get is a window with a black screen and then the infamous "Windows had to close this program, we apologize for the inconvienience." ------------------ IP: Logged |

It should work if you run both systems (XP and W98) together on your pc.Gz Palo IP: Logged |

Make sure you have administrative access. I had this problem. As for patches I don't believe you need them, as I haven't experienced and issues with XP and the Editor, in fact it works better then ever.IP: Logged |

I've been doing a little research into this area for the Tomb Raider FAQ. From my test machine I have determined that Room Edit will not run in compatibility mode whatsoever. It just doesnt like it.However it does appear to run fine on more modern graphics cards such as Nvidias range of cards. Therfore what make and model of graphics are you using? win xp is not your problem (i have it too, though thanks to it other tr games get mesed up) you screen color bit settings i think are wrong, if you get a black screen when you start it up, this is common, your settings have to be 16 or 32. hope this helps ------------------ Creator of professional levels (: jokami63@aol.com now working on TR: Exotic Locations IP: Logged |
