how do i make the sky in my level?

Paint the ceiling and walls with the very first black button in the lighting colors palette.

If it doesn't appear, either your wad doesn't have the SKY_GRAPHICS (not sure about the name) and/or your script is set with a Layer1 very low.

Don't forget that if the layer1 may not be in the script at all
