The first time, I was told I'd put the disc in the wrong way. I highly doubted it, but I gave the computer shop the benefit of the doubt. It's now exploded again, but was the right way up, so they can't pull the wool over my eyes this time and charge me fifty pounds for it... I'm so mad it's untrue. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a hardware problem?IP: Logged |

It is known that the trle disk is made on a cheap cd rom. I have used it many times and now mine has a crack that just stops before the data surface :D Make a copy and put the original away :)IP: Logged |

Piega, I totally agree with you about it being a cheap cdrom, I'm definitely going to make a copy! I managed to open up my computer and clear the cd rom, go me! I knew what I was doing, and saved myself fifty quid! But...man, I'm so pissed off lol there isn't ONE copy of TRC ANYWHERE, and where I live is nearly a city....grrrrrrr. Maybe if I complain to the manufacturers of the discs, I might get a free copy, who knows?Data, in answer to your question, no it doesn't (thank goodness lol). Crazie, mine exploded into pieces too, inside the cd rom drive. And this has happened TWICE. I'm from the UK, so I don't know how I'd go about complaining about the quality of the disc, or even if they'd replace it. Tis unbelievable, I can't get the TRC discs anywhere, I'm really fed up now BTW, it's my Level Editor disc that keeps doing this, not the Chronicles game disc itself.[This message has been edited by litepulsar (edited 04-29-2002).] IP: Logged |

I am quite upset, because all of this happened to you guys. We shell out a lot of money to buy the level editor, and the cd should a least be good quality.IP: Logged |

I totally agree with you Larz, that shouldn't be happening. Lol I was in such a foul mood today, I was having murderous thoughts. Look what happens when you have Level Editor withdrawal symptoms!IP: Logged |

Right.. if anyone would like to complain about this (UK users) here's the number:- Eidos support UK 0870 9000 222I rang them up this morning, and explained what had happened to me, and that if it was ONLY me then I wouldn't have bothered, but some of you guys have experienced this too, and we have a right to complain lol. The bloke I spoke to was really helpful, and apparently someone's going to be ringing me back in a minute... oooh that should be interesting! IP: Logged |

I got to speak to the area manager, Andy Farquhar, just now, and he agreed that it's strange about the Level Editor disc, he's going to look into it and said he'd replace my game for me. He also said you shouldn't HAVE to make a copy, the cd rom should be of enough good quality for this not to happen. He was VERY helpful, it's nice to get good customer service for a change, woohoo! He also had a peek in this thread *grin*sooo fingers crossed, Eidos will get the problem resolved, we got a result everyone *is chuffed*[This message has been edited by litepulsar (edited 04-30-2002).] IP: Logged |

Guys, I don't understand: do you uninstall/install the Level Editor so often that the disc cracks or what? Coz once you've installed it you don't need to put in in the CD-ROM drive anymore. Advice No.1 Don't buy high-speed CD-ROM Drives. 52x is really dangerous. Look for 40x or even slower - just a friendly advice. If you did buy a high-speed CD-ROM drive then I suggest you to download this program to slow down the speed of your CD-ROM drives. Advice No.2 Make copies of the CDs you "esteem" or make a virtual CD on your hard disk drive (HDD). I hope this helps [This message has been edited by Astakhov Oleg (edited 04-30-2002).] IP: Logged |

Crazie, yes they are I've only had to install the Level Editor for a third time due to my backup files being corrupted, not all of us has a perfect hard drive that doesn't muck up the files. It's irrelevant of HOW many times you install/uninstall it, the fact remains the disc should be of good enough quality for that not to happen at all. quote: Guys, I don't understand: do you uninstall/install the Level Editor so often that the disc cracks or what?
I know you were trying to help, but in all honesty, I found that patronizing, or is it just me? IP: Logged |

Oh no, I agree that CDs should be of better quality but do you agree with me that you have to be prudent with your CDs, just keep them safe?IP: Logged |

Another option is too make a 600mb partion on your hard drive and copy the cd too it. I did this with my XP cd, and can know reinstall windows without the cd. Same applies for the editor.IP: Logged |

Astakhov, yeah I do agree about keeping cd's safe, it just pisses me off I pay out money and they aren't good quality. I apologize that I got a bit bitchy up there, it's not usually like me.IP: Logged |
