I have the slicer dicer from the settomb in my wad. In the settomb level it makes no sound. In my wad it makes the sound from the lara statue from the cleopal wad. What I want is the slicer dicer to be silent because the sound can be heard from miles away and it is very annoing when you continue the level.

I already tried to delete everything from the settomb wad except the slicer dicer and add all my other things from my new wad so the sound would not activate. Still the slicer dicer makes sound. I have no expierence with trviewer. Is there not a manual of it? Or is this program build to guess it's possibility's?

Help

OK, in trviewer I selected slicer dicer in the moveble menu. Right click and selected "delete sounds". Saved, checked, sound is still there?

Edit your SAM file (in Notepad) of your wad and replace the sound with blank.wav
I think this should work after you convert the TOM again. But of-course make a backup first, I have had odd results from incorrect edting of this file.

It is the "metal_scrabe_loop : l_stomet" in de sound txt file. It's line 13. With this sound there is another one but it does not reach that far as this one and I kinda like it. Have not tried do delete it yet so when it works I will keep you posted

blank.wav does not excist and the converter reports it. Therefore other sounds dissapear too. So I will create blank.wav and the slicer dicer will be silent.

I have not tried it yet but delete the slicer dicer and save your sam and sfx file. Backup and add the slicer dicer back into the wad. Replace the backupped sam and sfx file. Should this work?

*note self: don't assume other people have certain *.wav files most likely downloaded through levels by Emoo

Anyway, I don't know about deleting and replacing with the old sam and sfx, it might cause incorrect sounds, but I haven't tested, so I can't be sure. But you can still rename the sound used by the slicer with a quiet metal sound.

There's a way to make it not to be heard from far away instead of making it silent. Use an antitrigger.

OK, used sam and sfx files without the slicer dicer in the wad. Replaced them with the wad with slicer dicer and still the dicer use some sound so I guess blank.wav I will create to get rid of the sound.

is this the line for the slicer dicer?

METAL_SCRAPE_LOOP:l_stomet VOL80 L PIT-40 RAD15 #d #r

If the line you told is correct (the one up above I reported here now), change the VOL80 with something like VOL45 and RAD15 with RAD02{/B} or [B]RAD03

The "RAD" feature tells the game the radius of SQUARES where Lara will hear that sound since where it comes: now it is written that for a radius of 15 squares, since where it is the "slicer dicer" you will hear it.

If you place a short radius (2 or 3 squares) that will be heard just when you are really near to it. Then, the "VOL" feature tells exactly the volume of the sound effect around those "radius" squares.

Another way is to put some very loud waterfalls or similar around the room with the dicer.
