I'm running TRLE on W2K and, as with so many the programs, its giving me gyp. When I try to output a WAD it gets someway into the operation and then crashes, announcing "winroomedit.exe. has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program."

Anyone had a similar experience? Any suggestions mush appreciated. Cheers

I've reinstalled the compatability patch and TRLE and I am still unable to output WADs without crashing the program. Everything else seems to work fine (The room editor works, in as much as it will let me design rooms, and I haven't had problems using the level converter on other people's levels). I'm running W2K SP2. I've been shutting down all other programs while running the roomeditor and have 128mb ram so it shouldn't be a memory issue.

Any suggestions welcome, cheers.

Please try the following.
Make a one room PRJ and output the wad to one of the original TOM files that you have not altered in any way.
If it works, I suggest that your wad file may be corrupt. If not, respond back here and I will attempt to assist further.

That worked, presumeably you're right. I was using the tut1 wad file (I've only just started using the trle and I'm still in process of working through the tutorial) and the WAD file was fresh off the trle disc. Is there anywhere I can download a replacement file, assuming that's what's wrong...

thanx again, loza

Update:
When the room editor crashes it outputs two files. One is "error.txt" the other tom.txt". Error.txt reads as follows:

PHASE I : Bad door clearance - PASSED
PHASE II : Bad floor clearance - PASSED
PHASE III : Bad object clearance - PASSED

Tom.txt is completely blank and 0 bytes.

From error.txt it soundslike i've screwed something up somewhere by I'm not sure if there's any way of detecting exactly where the fault is (I know that the program will output a wad from any of my saves up to 11 or so but it crashes from save 13. I'm a 44 at the moment.

Thanks

I have those same files but with an extension of .log. They are always created when outputting the tom file, even if there are no errors.
My error.log has the same contents as yours, so I would say the error is somewhere else.
The wad is probably not corrupt, but it might be best to just try reinstalling the LE, especially if you installed the patch after the LE.

Cheers but I've reinstalled trle several times. Plus the room editor will output wads just not after a certain save (save elven). Thing is: I'd hardly changed anything between the two saves. The project is still just one room, I hadn't added any doors or changed anything apart frmo a few textures...
