Well there I was happily making my level and testing it every so often and alls ok. So I add some more rooms, 3 stacked up, and 3 water rooms with sinks and now its broken and tr goes to the desktop when I try to play it. 58 rooms in the level some quite big. Lots of lights, mainly shadows, and 37 objects. I'd rather fix the prob than delete the extra rooms. Anyone got any ideas?

Firstly, did the level crash to desktop when you entered a particular room?, if so, too many bulbs can cause this.

Secondly, have you changed the script file since your last test?

Thirdly, you could load an earlier version of the project; if you had any.

At last resort, try TRfix; it amy mess up a few rooms like missing objects etc., however use it only if you cannot succeed with the other solutions first.

1. No it crashed as soon as I selected the level name on the levels start screen. never even got to the game.

2. No

3. I could do this but they were great rooms and took ages to build.

I'll have another go at it - thanks for you help.

I have had the same problem twice before, but I have fix them.

1.-In the project an object was out of a room

2.-When you put a black texture (it's a empty slot, not a texture at all) in some wall, floor or ceiling, it will cause a problem.

Check the last room that you did, I'm sure that the problem is there.

Note: Maybe you won't recover that project but if you have a backup then use my advices

Texture Limits can cause this problem too. Although the first symptom is wrong textures showing. But sometimes it crashes to desktop too.

Is Lara placed in the newly created room for testing? If so, your new room may contain some more new textures, right? If you´ve exceeded the limits, the level may crash soon at the moment it´s onscreen, specially if the room is big. Try placing Lara at the begining of the level again and test. If it works, texture limit may be the problem. It will crash when you get to the new room. Then you´ll need to retexture some parts of the rooms to get rid of some different textures, or you´ll have to delete some unused objects from your WAD to get rid of unused object textures.
