Has anyone tried using TRLE with Win-XP? I've been having a lot of problems-- regardless of how I set the color display, the thing crashes. I tried using the WIN-98 Compatibility mode offered by XP, but still nothing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. IP: Logged |

My friend... I´m sorry to say but Microsoft has done nothing good after Windows 98 SE. These new versions are good for web browsing only (in my opinion)! All my professional recording softwares (I own a pro recording studio) do not work in these new versions, and the Editor has the same problems. So I´m a very happy person with Win98SE! If you can live without the wonderful visual aspect and the (most dispensable) new features, do yourself a favor, format your machine and load Win98SE. IP: Logged |

I have XP and have had absolutely no problems, keep in mind you must have administrative access for trouble free operation.IP: Logged |

The Level Editor will not run in compatibility mode. Regardless of whatever you try, it simply does not like. From my tests it seems that the editor running or not will largely be down to what graphics card you have. For example on older graphics cards it will not work whilst it will run happy on new up-to-date cards. ------------------ John "IconJohn" Jones http://www.croftsgate.co.uk iconjohn@croftsgate.co.uk A Member of the GameSpy Network http://www.gamespy.com http://www.gamespy.org http://www.gamespy.net http://www.3dactionplanet.com IP: Logged |

I've stuck with the even older W98 OE as I know it works and everthing I use works perfectly and quickly and virtually never crashes. IP: Logged |

Make sure that you have downloaded all the stuff from Windows Update, I failed to do that and it didn't work. After I installed all the updates, it works fine.------------------ IP: Logged |

I think it is very unfair to blame Microsoft for making a "useless just good looking" operating system. I want to see who has to reformat and reinstall his software first after you turn of your computer while wokring on purpose. EVERY application runs fine for me with my Win XP Pro Edition. So if you run instabile hardware, what doesn't mean that it is damaged or anything else but maybe just incompatible, don't blame the software.IP: Logged |

Also using windows XP pro and TRLE ,no special problem to run it. room editor and TR executables are running fine. Just a thing : the savegame loading is much longer that with 98 but you can solve this problem :disable the sound in the TR setup.don't try the 95/98 compatibility mode with the game,it will crash the game. ------------------ Luc alias Roylion Administration and Technical support of Tombraider Online http://www.tro-online.com [This message has been edited by roylion (edited 05-19-2002).] IP: Logged |
