would core design use them as one of their own levels (If there was a tomb 7), Would core design use one of the levels and make a couple of adjustments to them. But only if THEY WERE THAT GOOD!

First of all, why?

and second, if you've seen the screenshots, trailers and stuff like that about TR: angel of darkness you'll see that it's completely different than the TR games we played before, I don't think it'd make much sense for them to make a big game of fan made levels after AoD

Well it does say in the agreement that Eidos have every right to use your level and claim it as one of their own. Now why would they say that unless they thought that maybe someday someone might make a level worth using in one of their games? I guess we can all dream...........

After ID software released Doom, it wasn't long before the market was flooded with custom levels. What was this good for? it's good advertising that's what it is.
At the last count there are no less than 350,000 custom Doom levels released over the last ten years and they're still coming out. I think Lara has a lot of catching up to do

Core has got everything planned out and prepared for future games after TR6, The game engine is totally diffent, the storyline is planned out, so your idea is but a dream.

Also, they haven't gotten involved with the TRLE community closer than realeasing a new wads files. So i extremely doubt they would get involved with us now.

Well, I can say that Eidos Germany got actually quite involved twice in the past year by putting a selection of fan created levels on a magazine CD ROM and more recently the German 3-DVD-TR-Movie Edition features 27 custom levels from 12 Level designers around the world and in both cases the respective authors were rewarded by Eidos with some goodies - well, obviously the DVD in the latter case

HAPPY RAIDING!
Michael.

I don't know if they would use entire levels, but maybe a great puzzle you've created, or some .TGA files, or new objects,...

Or maybe you just inspire them to make better levels, so the new TR games wouldn't look apalling in comparison with some custom levels.

I just came from TR Series Forum w/this similar Topic! What about these possibilities:

FULL PLAYER-MADE GAMES/& Eidos?

I was thinking today that it 'might be' a good idea IF, Core/Eidos, etc. would be open to some player level makers that actually want to make a WHOLE GAME...to set up some kind of 'francise,' or royalty type thing & if was a good enough product to let the player sell it...so to compensate all the work & time they'd put into it...not to mention the inspiration & greater initiative that would provide those desiring to do such LARGE PROJECTS.
Or maybe just a few, then probably wouldn't be that many attempts at such huge projects......but if for example, Eidos had someone to take a look at such 'finished' products & if thought viable, to publish it
(OR, license a smaller publisher just for that item) & have some simple royalty process, etc. that would make it all a viable addition for the tombraiding public.

I think the traditional Tombraider & more of the 'same' will ALWAYS be very playable, enjoyeable, etc. as they have up to this point been constructed. Aside from the NEW GENERATION Francise, aod, etc. this traditional tombraider type games would, in addition to, still be very much desired!

Kind of like a 'back burner' of an ongoing venue of the 'old, traditional tombraider,'
just more stories & adventures, etc.

(Could, of course keep the entire story lines limited to pre aod, or just as if were
built up further as 'Dream' Scripts, where all is an adventure, but just in her dreams while sleeping. Thus, could never interfer w/future story lines on aod, new generation, etc., if such were also a concern.)

Maybe the Engine capabilities will be expanded a bit too; there's nothing like having a whole game w/scripted cut-scenes, etc. as well! All that's probably possible now, but very timely endeavor. Such is why the possibility of such level creators to have a possible covering of cost/time/&work,
might really end up creating some extreme good stuff.

Mainly, because of all the time it would take & the tombraiding publics desire for those types of projects did this idea occur to me. All Eidos would have to do, is okay a finished project & publish or license a smaller publisher to publish it & all would make some extra income & mainly offering the level creator possibility of a fair recompensation & the playing public the chance at some greater than ordinary, perhaps extraordinary further gameplay!

I'm talking about some very SIMPLE type set up, ... something to think about!

I would love to play full games, but would be nice for the creator of it to also have possibility of compensation for their time spent building it.

There could be a SPECIAL VENUE for such activity, similar to a "Forum' but kind of like an online store as well.

The Level creator would do most all the work, & the rest would be some simple (Is that cost effective?) process of multiple production & distribution or sale.

Eidos would get a slice & creator would as well...& hopefully would be a low-cost product that customer could buy easily.

All this is just an idea for anyone that might want to discuss & explore w/Eidos, etc...such various possibilites.

Also, if were several really good level builders, you might could work together & maybe Eidos might be interested in a finished product in such a way! (Probably not that many projects, but I'll best most wouldn't mind having as many as 3 such games a year, IF they could get them!

Now, where are those last few Secrets at?
They've got to be there somewhere, lol.
