Tips on using the Tomb Raider Level Editor Manual PDF file:

The Tomb Raider Level Editor Manual is an Adobe Acrobat PDF file, an electronic file that can be read by Adobe's Acrobat Reader (included on this disc). If you haven't installed Adobe Acrobat Reader, you will need to do so in order to view the manual. If you already have it installed, make sure you have the latest version (4.0 or higher), or you may have problems viewing the graphic images.

After opening TRLE Manual.PDF, turn on the 'Navigation Pane' by clicking on the Open/Hide Navigation Pane icon (on Menu Bar between the 'Printer' and 'Hand' icons). The Navigation Pane contains the 'Table of Contents' with hyper-links to each section. Any time you want to return to the 'Table of Contents', click on the page number in the lower right corner of the page.

The 'Interactive Interface', located on page six, contains links to the pages of information about the windows and buttons for each section of the interface. Once you have clicked through to a section, you can return to the interface graphic by clicking on the page number in the lower right corner of the page, or click to any other section in the manual from the Navigation Pane.

Most text references to other sections of the manual are hyper-linked. When you run your mouse over these lines of text, the 'hand' icon becomes a pointing finger.

If you want to leave the Manual open for quick reference while running the Level Editor, use 'Alt + TAB' to flip between the two programs.

ADDITIONAL INFO
================

Using Finish Triggers
Levels created using all the WADs with the exception of city.was will load when the level number (the order in which they appear in script.txt) is entered into the finish trigger. A level created using the city.was object set will only load if it is followed by another level using the city.was object set. If you would like to create a sequence of levels, one followed by the other, you have three options: 1) use city.was to create all the levels in your 'game' 2) don't use the city.was for any of the levels in your 'game' or 3) use any combination of WADs and leave the PlayAnyLevel option enabled in the script, so you will revert back to the title screen at the end of each level (do this by entering the number 24 in the finish trigger) .

Modifying the Title Flyby Load Screen:

In order to set the new camera coordinates for the Title Flyby Load Screen, temporarily add this bit of code to your script. This will allow you to make a TR4 file, then go into the room where you have placed Lara so you can press F1 to get the new coordinates (as per page 64 under Changing Load Camera Coordinates).

[Level]
Name=		Title Load Screen
LoadCamera=	68096,1152,90624,68032,703,91542,1
Level=		DATA\TITLE,104

TEXT CHANGES
============
It was necessary to change the default installation path for the Tomb Raider Level Editor after the manual was completed. Wherever the path for the editor is written in the manual, it should read 'Program Files\Core Design\trle' instead of 'Program Files\Core Design\Tomb Raider Level Editor.

Changing the TR4 File Name/Using the same WAD for different levels
This paragraph should read: "Look at the entry after Level=DATA\...it must match the name of the TR4 file for that level. When you use the Level Converter it automatically assigns the name of the WAD you used in your project to the TR4 file. What if you want to use the same WAD file for several different levels? You then must copy and rename your WAD file (all ten files) so you will automatically end up with a different TR4 file name, or you can use the same WAD file in a different project, then rename the TR4 file after it has been created. (This might get confusing) Make sure you enter the new TR4 file name into the script. For example, if you want a second level using CITY.was, and you call it CITY2, you would cut and paste the same block of script for CITY, but enter CITY2 after Level=DATA\... (Make sure when you copy and paste a block of script for a level you use the one associated with the WAD file you are using, or your puzzles won't work) The new TR4 file names don't have to be included in the English.txt file."

The third sentence should read "If you use a different TR4 file name, you must remember to enter it into the script."

Room 154 in the last sentence should read 'Room 153'

MISC NOTES
==========
On the root of the CD is a file called INTERFACE.PDF This can be printed out as a quick reference for the various editor buttons.

NOTE ON UNINSTALL OPTION
========================
After running the UNINSTALL option, the Tomb Raider Level Editor may leave a few files on your hard drive in the default installation directory (the editing tools may create some files that need to be deleted manually). If this is the case, simply go to your installation directory and delete anything the UNINSTALL option didn't take care of.
